Sports bars? Empty Sports bars?

Post by Perry Noia Mon Apr 27, 2009 12:51 pm

I've recently been face painting for a local hockey team's home games and it has inspired me to possibly approach some of the sports bars to do face painting there during some of the larger sporting events... has anyone done anything like this? Experiences to share?

I figured I'd give them some example photos of the local favourite team logos and offer to do it either as they pay me a set fee or charge the customers per face (although I'm sure more people would have it done if the bar paid).

Sports bars? Empty Re: Sports bars?

It is a local sports bar (one of the chains - the one voted Best Sports Bar) that hires me to go in and paint their staff for their theme/party nights. I had to paint the "promo girl" with the Oilers logo on St. Pat's day... not my favourite thing to paint let me tell you!

And I once painted in a bar for the Olympic Gold Medal Men's Hockey game... chaotic let me tell you!!! We won...

And people in those places (at least here in oil country) throw their money around like crazy, and they've been drinking... getting them to pay for face painting (and body parts) is not a problem.

Approach the manager and pitch to paint the staff - the girls love it as it gets them more attention to be painted and potentially increases their tips.

So far they have let me set-up in a room by myself and they come to me to paint, but I think being a "roaming painter" would net a lot more money as they can continue to watch the games and the friends can watch ...

Sounds like a really good opportunity for tats as well. Not the glitter ones unless it is for the ladies, but if you have a local team and some of the black in or colors that are more manly. I think they might go over well?

I don't know, I don't do tats....
This guy is my work... he's a repeat customer and right now, my biggest fan Wink

I practised some of the NHL logos last night and put them on a sample page to bring to the bars, now I'm just going to write a short letter with details of my offer to them.

BTW, the Oilers' logo IS a royal pain in the butt... the letters just look sloppy, no matter how carefully you do it....

The Flames logo is easier... but the Canucks is fun. Anything with an animal is fun for me.

HOWEVER... I prefer NOT to do logos, and won't when doing regular gigs as they are licensed, but for the adult situations at sport related events it is kinda hard not to. And the tips are good...

Perry,

The stencil tats are so easy and look so nice. You can do one in less than a minute. Just something to think about!
