Soy Allergy? Empty Soy Allergy?

Post by CreateFaces Mon Apr 04, 2011 9:40 pm

Hi All,

I know this has come up, but I can't find it anywhere.

I have a customer who's daughter has a peanut allergy and a guest to the same party who has a soy allergy. I know Snaz is peanut free, but I'm not sure about the soy...

I just sent an email to Snaz but was wondering if anyone had any experience or feedback...

Soy Allergy? Empty Re: Soy Allergy?

There does not appear to be soy in the ingredients (they are listed at the bottom of this page http://www.snazaroo.us/safety.htm) but who knows what it could come in contaxt with somewhere along the way. Watch what kind of moisturizers you might use on your hands before painting that day aa they might have soy butter in them. Most of the ingredients in snazaroo appear to be paraben waxes and synthetic stuff other than the actual dyes which i think are food grade colours.

Soy Allergy? Empty Re: Soy Allergy?

Watch for things that are derivatives of soy if their reaction to topical soy is extreme - vitamin E for instance can come from soy base or wheat base (at least, not sure there aren't more) - and the only way to know which one for sure is to get it from the manufacturer. I have one lip gloss I know that has it from a soy base, one from a wheat base - I have to avoid the wheat bases for those with gluten allergies (especially for lip gloss which they are more likely to ingest).

Thanks ladies.

Yes, I'm definitely waiting for the official word from Snaz, but was curious if any members or their kids have soy sensitivity.

As soon as you can, Do a patch test first. Leave them till the end of your gig to see if there is a reaction. If your still doubting, just paint on their hand or arms.

Find a post by Shannon Fennell here. She has a link in her siggy for resources. On that page she has links to MSDS (manufacturers safety data sheet) They have to put all their ingredients on them. I would check there.

Soy Allergy? Empty Re: Soy Allergy?

Post by CreateFaces Tue Apr 05, 2011 5:50 pm

Hi,
Thanks, I have the MSDS for Snaz, the problem is that sometimes ingredients can trigger reactions to certain allergies that are not clear from the ingredient names. For instance there may be a soy derived ingredient that may not include "soy" in the name. Allergies are a tricky matter so I want to get a definitive answer.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'll post Snaz's response for reference when I receive it.

No, but after reading many, many, many posts all over the place. I never found any posts about bad reactions. After all was said and done, I went to the gig and let Mom know that I couldn't find anything definitive and she said no worries because that guest hadn't shown up anyhow.

The world may never know...... Very Happy I'd love to know for sure if anyone has found out.
