Back after over a week!
Hey everyone! I've been gone for a little over a week an Wow do the posts sure pile up! I've been online most of the day catching up with what everyone's been up to!
I was dealing with school stuff and the was away at the Clown Forum Spring Fling and I had a blast! Had a number of evening face painting and balloon jams and got to catch up with old friends I hadn't seen in a good while.
One new thing they had this year was the Gala show where some of the staff put on a show for the general public. Well, I didn't know about this and so didn't have my clown outfit with me to dress up, but I did have my paints and was the only painter there willing to do face painting for the audience for about 30 - 45 minutes before the show. I didn't know at the time that I was the only one who would be painting and anticipated a large crowd for the free face painting and so didn't use my design book that I just finished for this season. Insead, I painted up my arms (yes, both arms! I painted with my left hand and was shocked at how well it came out!) and threw on a quick eye design.
I only packed my small kit for jams.. so I only had about half my normal amount of paint, only TEN sponges.... TEN!!! and I didn't have my director's chair... Luckily someone else brought theirs and I was able to borrow it. I don't know what I'd have done without that thing! I've been painting with my director's chair so long I can't paint a gig without it anymore. I was rather worried about what I'd do if I ran out of sponges as I don't re-use sponges and had no way of washing them quickly... but luckily didn't have to worry about that (insert sigh of relief here)
I was all ready with a list of about 15 -20 quick line movers that I keep stored up in my noggin for tight situations and then only had maybe 8 kids get painted... and all of them girls, lol. they all wanted my eye design in different colors except three... 1 who wanted my quick kitty 2 who wanted butterflies. One just wanted a one eye butterfly the other wanted a whole face butterfly.
I was a little disappointed that none of the boys wanted to get painted... I was so ready to do a quick spiderman mask, a puppy, a simple version of my skull and tiger... anything! but only the girls wanted to be painted. Oh well, I still had a great time and the staff what thrilled they had more than just balloons for pre-show entertainment for the kids.
I had a great time and really look forward to it next year.

Re: Back after over a week!
Lol you guys, Punky girl is just fine by me . And yeah, I sponge so much now as compared to when I first started out painting that if I run out of sponges for a day my booth basically get shuts down I refuse to reuse used sponges before they've gone through the wash. I was worried because I figured in that 30 - 45 minutes, I knew I'd be able to get 10 - 15 kids through.... but with only ten sponges... there was a distict possibility of running short. I cling to my sponges like life when I go on a job, I feel naked and useless without them, lol. Luckily the crowd was not as big as we thought it would be so everything worked out okay
And yeah maggie, I didn't get pics of my left hand work, but it looked pretty good, almost like my right hand work! Only thing is though... my quick little 1-2 minute designs I put on my right arm took me about 3-4 times longer to paint to make them look so good, lol.

LMBO...my kids asked me to vote but I had to draw the line thats was so gross. Embarrasing to say my husband thought it was equally as funny as my children he wanted to vote for the girl..can't remember her namemaggie wrote:The other night I watched the kids whatever awards and I even had to vote for the arm fart contest. Lol you two! When Perry and I first met she said she was always reminded of Punky Brewster too.... though I have no idea what that is....
But, I too can't stand the new disney shows... they're really stupid... HOWEVER, I am in LOVE with Phineas and Ferb. I'm saving up for my Perry the Platypus t-shirt ^_^
