Re: Forum T-shirt
I really don't see that as being a danger. Usually when clients make the comment, "Well, I can do THAT!" they don't realize the cost and commitment we put into this artform. Once you explain that to them, they'll be happy as can be to just hire you again rather than shelling out all that money to get started themselves. Besides, what's the use of having a forum shirt if it doesn't say Face Paint Forum on it?

Re: Forum T-shirt
I LOVE the list that Shannon posted, very clever!
That said, I would only wish to buy a shirt that was *only* positive, and was without sarcasm. My image is cheerful, positive, and upbeat and I want to reflect that in all forms of my communication with customers I don't think sales will increase, nor will my image be improved if customers are shown my wit or intelligence. However, it *will* help if I communicate that I am friendly, talented, professional, and that I adore what I do!
Do you know what I mean?
Oh, and I am totally stealing that sarcastic list for my own enjoyment, wink wink

Re: Forum T-shirt
I love the idea of a forum tshirt. As a large chested girl I do wear a lot of scoop necks and v necks, however I don't want the kids to be copping an eyeful when I'm wearing a scoop neck, I think a v neck is a little more modest. I think a short sleeve tshirt would be more adaptable as on a colder day I would put a three quarter sleeve top underneath. (One tshirt would do almost all year round)
I'm not good with slogans but I would be more attracted to a less is more approach.
Barbie, you have written exactly what I was thinking and not knowing how to verbalise, I love a quirky slogan but would only wear something that was positive and fun.

Re: Forum T-shirt
I was thinking the same thing. Part of my selling point is that the few face painters around my area are not nice and not friendly to the kids so my selling point is that I am, I would only want to reflect that in a T-shirt. BUT, some of them I'd be willing to use as signs!BarbieSmith wrote:That said, I would only wish to buy a shirt that was *only* positive, and was without sarcasm. Re: Forum T-shirt
You all realize that you can go into a shop anywhere and order specifically want you want on a shirt.... It used to be way more popular.
They had shops with all sorts of decals and lettering and you picked exactly the shirt style/colour you wanted and the decoration/lettering.... and they were actally pretty inexpensive.
There is a shop here is town ... my mom got a couple of shirts made to wear on vacation. A blue T with "I'm so poor I can't even pay attention" and a red with "Bad spellers of the work UNTIE!"
You can get individual shirts embroidered too which is more common now. I've been meaning to get some made for years...

Re: Forum T-shirt
I hear you Shannon, there are a couple shops in my town that do the same. In fact, I'm TRYING to come up with a logo for our business so we (my mother and I) can get shirts made to wear at events where we are not in clown, something that will identify us as professional face painters and that our customers will recognize.
I'm still interested in buying a forum t-Shirt, but only to wear to face painting jams and such, not to wear at an event I'm actually working at.

Re: Forum T-shirt
3/4 sleeves would be too hot for where I live. I like the t-shirt idea best. It can be layered for colder days.
I'm not coming up with any great slogans...
Maybe... Get outa mu butt kid! Just kidding

Re: Forum T-shirt
OHHH!!!! This is the ultimate!!! I so agree with a V necked tshirt as Aussie weather is all over the place and layering is what I do. I have a t shirt of my own that has only print on the back (FACE ART CREW and my website)
I thought perhaps something like
FRONT- face paint forum.com
where the professionals meet
BACK - I make people smile, what's your job?

Re: Forum T-shirt
Hey Beans, love it, simple and fun!! Even as a newbie i'd happily walk down the street wearing that!!
Re: Forum T-shirt
I am willing to get whatever the group vote decides as I really want to pin it to the back of my salwar so I can be identified at FABAIC. I'm really wanting to hook up with my fellow FPF'ers!
Re: Forum T-shirt
Beans, awesome!
"FRONT- face paint forum.com
where the professionals meet"
THAT is my FAV!!!! To me this is perfect cuz it's the FPF shirt. Tho, I'd like to wear it at gigs and such, this is what the shirt is for. Really like it!!
A variation could be something like a small logo style something on the front corner and then on the back the big slogan. I like how someone(sorry, can't go back and see) did the writing with a paintbrush. Keeps the big showey artwork down but still incorporates one of our main tools.
I like staying with the positive side too. But some of those sayings I'm gonna have to use! LOL!
SO many great ideas! That was just my 2cents, hehehe! Looking forward to a vote AND a shirt!!!!

Re: Forum T-shirt
I'm loving the suggestion from Beans too!!! That is definitely one I would buy. It would be the kind of shirt that would make people at the grocery store ask you what you do, which gives you an opportunity to hand out a card.
My understanding of the initial idea was not that it was a shirt to wear at a gig (I could be wrong). For gigs, I'm going to get one made with my own logo, and I don't necessarily want the moms from the event checking out the FPForum!!! But to have a shirt with the FPF logo on it and a fun saying (like Beans' suggestion), that would be cool for wearing to jams and conventions and just out and about. I hope Metina does offer one, it would be awesome!!

Re: Forum T-shirt
Great, great, GREAT point about not wanting moms in line to check out facepaintforum.com! We do NOT want to create our own new competition

How about "Support Face Painters... we paint smiles!"
I like this one!!! It's my tagline on my website and all of my e-mails!

I'm partial to this one... "Quote" on front of shirt, where kids getting painted can see it and smile, and ..."Professional Face Painter" on the back where the "audience" can see it while I paint.
I vote for V-neck too
Re: Forum T-shirt
I like that CC, I would love one with that quote on the front and Professional Face PAinter on the back.

Hiya,
I haven't forgotten about this, just have a few personal issues to deal with this week. I promise to give this my full attention soon.
