Hmmm. Should probably just be face paint.

I've seen some very cool designs on line with feathers incorporated into the design. I think eyelash glue or glitter tattoo are used to attach them.

I'm wondering if she's talking about using real feathers as an accent in addition to painted feathers, or instead of painted feathers.

Ok here's a random question that I have been tossing around in my head wondering whether to raise... please don't flame me as I'm just thinking out loud... when we enter a comp does it have to be our original design idea AND painting of said design.. cause some of my absolute favourite entries this time are paintings of someone elses designs but they are amazingly awesome paintings of that design and have acknowledged the inspiration... but at the same time not unique originals..but not copies of other face painting just of other art which I do ALL the time but wasn't sure about doing in a comp...again please don't flame me and if this is an out of line question sorry.. prob shouldn't post after 2 days of 12hr festival jobs... and for this time as it is not stated I think the entries totally stand but for next time???

Hmm... that's an interesting question, and I certainly see your point. I personally have always come up with my own unique design for every monthly challenge, although, I don't REALLY have a problem with people doing designs they either just SAW elsewhere or designs that were just inspired by others' work. I mean, really, isn't just about everything inspired by something else?

Yes, we must all actually paint the design ourselves for the challenge. That being said, no two people paint exactly alike; everyone has a different style, different flair, and different feel and mood to their work. So personally, I don't see the big deal, I just know that when I vote, I take note of the originality of the design and they lose points in that area and I likely will not vote for them if the design is actually someone else's.

I am inspired by soooooo many things I see, in fact every single thing that I see, that there cant be an absolute original idea in my head - hahahaha. Straight out coping (or any type of copying) should never be in a challenge though, inspired by might be another thing.

Metina - I'm thinking you may not want to offer free shipping to us on the other side of the Globe......
Not that I have every done a video.... but I was inspired to try doing one.
Maybe $5 off total order or something?

Oh and Rhiana, I'm with you - I don't like seeing designs I have seen on the snaz site appear here in these comps.... if we wanted that design we could just go there and get it..... BUT..... if they have just used it as inspiration and have added there own touches and in some cases improved it , well then that's different.
If you see something in another art medium, lets say just for example the very famous painting "the scream" and you wanted to paint that on a face then pleeeeeeeease do! Once it has been converted to face painting - it's yours!
...... This is they way I see it.... just speaking for myself.

Just letting all the comments soak in so I will try to address all the points raised.

1. It is fine to use accent feathers as long as the majority of the design is face paint.

2. As to the folks that enter their "interpretation" of someone elses designs, I think they should be allowed as they have taken the time to break it down for us so we can learn and hopefully added their own spin. If the only copied it exacty, then it really doesn't qualify for these comps.

3. I feel the thoughts here are not to dictate how people vote, but rather give them things to considered when voting. You might have two designs you love, but one didn't do a great SBS, while the other was over the top. You may have two you love, but one is an "inspired by" piece while the other is a total orginal.

4. You are right I can't do free international shipping, but will offer $5 off coupons for orders in we get a video from an international member.
