Re: Dirty shameful, face painting kit!
Go for the sort of fake satins - they often sell them in dancewear/ dressmaker shops, or on ebay. Lots have lovely patterns or sparkling stars/ sequin shapes on them.
Its fairly cheap stuff; machine-washable, it looks great, often it can be flipped over so you have a plain-sided option too.
AND it drapes beautifully and doesn't crush, as well as folding far smaller/ lighter than vynyl etc.

HaHa! We did have a "Blindfold" Challenge about a year ago. Basically you had to face paint yourself without a mirror
It was pretty funny!

Doesn't look bad. Often times a patterned cloth will hide the splatters.
Re: Dirty shameful, face painting kit!
Is there a link anywhere for cleaning kits properly/organization tips?
Re: Dirty shameful, face painting kit!
After 2 days that really doesn't look bad. My suggestion is putting a black towel under your whole set up(2 if you need them). The towels are very absorbent & hide the paint stains. They stay clean looking after hours of painting.
Re: Dirty shameful, face painting kit!
I always lay down towels on top of my tablecloths - like Linda says it absorbs paint and water, keeps things from slipping around... Also have matching washcloths and smaller towels to cover my lap and other surfaces.
I just use dollar store plastic table cloths - light and hang nicely.

Re: Dirty shameful, face painting kit!
Yeah, I have to agree, that kit is pretty icky looking, and the painting?? Well, lets just say it makes me feel a WHOLE LOT better about my very first few attempts at painting...
And yeah, I think we had a sort of blind face painting contest, where we just didn't have mirrors to paint ourselves and the results were hillarious (except for Kristal, I remember her's was absolutely PHENOMENAL, lol).
On the other hand, I'd be afraid to paint someone ELSE while I was blindfolded because I just know I'd poke them in the eye or stick the brush up their nose or something, lol.

I think the worst part is how uncomfortable that poor little girl looks. Geesh.

Re: Dirty shameful, face painting kit!
I am one of those painters who looks like a tornado went thru my kit after a few hours at a busy event, but it is never filthy, just brushes scattered around, every so often, i stop and take a 60 second break and put things right again, and then mess it up again, just my style LOL I've never had anyone complain and it is usually a good giggle for those in line when I stop, look around and then accusingly ask "Ok, WHO messed up my kit?!?!?!" The kids find it funny to blame me, I blame their mom...stress relief and an excuse to stop and take a breath when busy. And I always have a dark towel under my pallets. So...am I clean and anal? No way, but I don't paint in filth either.

Re: Dirty shameful, face painting kit!
Unfortunately, I've seen worse. Ive seen painters that have filthy kits, and stuff just shoved into bags every which way. One in particular at a festival last fall looked like her stuff was held together with bubble gum and band aids! No rhyme or reason to the kit. Nothing updated, and when I saw that, I promised myself that I would never be affraid to throw out what didnt work, or was too cumbersome. A filthy kit says, "I practice poor hygene - dont hire me".
Re: Dirty shameful, face painting kit!
wow. i've always kept my kit neat and well-organized but the evidence from the pic of the set up as well as that shameful design speaks for itself! That painter could use some coaching...
