The Face Painty Sponges are alive... with the sound of music.. :P
Just wondering what kind of Music everyone listens to?
My tastes range from New Age to Power Metal My current favorites are Celtic Woman and Elvenking. I also love instrumental movie soundtracks... especially any work by Howard Shore or Hanz Zimmer. Yay Hobbits and Pirates!
Is there any song or artist in particular that really inspires you?

I'm a country girl, haha. Country, showtunes, oldies, and some leftover pop/alternative from my high school years.
Favourites change constantly - there's just SO MUCH music out there! How can you pick favourites?
However, I do love: Doc Walker, Sugarland, the Dixie Chicks, Rascal Flatts, the RENT soundtrack, Savage Garden (!), Taylor Swift, and am replaying the Moffatts...haha.

I like lots of different music. Mostly I just let my kids choose what we'll be listening to, so it's a lot of VeggieTales, Cats the musical, and Roar of Love. I also enjoy Christian music, and Selah really inspires me. Oh yeah...the Wailin' Jennys, Cranberries, Wierd Al, and on and on...

i LOVE tons of music....but sadly when i am painting it is soooo loud with the crowd or kids - music would be drowned out or just more decibels to the already insane sound level!
what i listen to, truly depends on my mood. classical (used to play cello), jazz (not if i am stressed or have a headache), 80's Euro & New Wavey/Punk (fun and bippy like adam ant, cyndi lauper, devo, modern english, oingo boingo, missing persons, deb harry, old school U2, the smiths, bow wow wow, yaz, the specials, ub40, and a million more!), christian, pop, rock, celtic...........
need to incorporate music in my practice to help keep the mood flowing. at la fete in new orleans they put the music on during the zombie making up and prep and it really did help "set the tone" for our creations!!! RoooWWWRRRR!

Currently going through all my CDs, transfering them to computer so I can transfer to mp3 player. And it's all my favourite really to much to mention

Wyndy,
seems like we may be able to switch music collections and hardly notice the difference

ahem... most of my "collection" is vinyl... I haven't bought anything since college. New stuff laying around was my brothers (he was seriously into girl country - Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks, etc.)
So when I am painting in my studio I invite my models to "put on a record"... they don't have a clue how to. My stereo has turntable, 8-track, cassette, and AM/FM Radio - real state of the art!!
My complete collection includes really old stuff - Elvis, Fats Domino, Bill Haley (my mom's!) and Dean Martin, Harry Belafonte, Frank Zappa, Bee Gees, Elton John, Oakridge Boys, Kenny Rogers, classical like Beethoven's Erocia, Merry Widow, Gilbert & Sullivan, numberous musical soundtracks like South Pacific, Wizard of Oz, ALW, Grease, American Graffiti... and the previosly mentioned CCR, Meatloaf, Wierd Al, Twisted Sister...

I have a bunch of vinyl still, just nothing to play it on any more Only about 6 short years ago, I worked with a young man who didn't know what a "B" side was. : /

In high school, there was a Christmas where everyone was getting high tech discmans (discmen?) or MP3 players, and I was PSYCHED because we'd just gotten a record player, and had pulled out all of my dad's vinyl...haha. Lot's of the Beatles, and ABBA, and I distinctly remember putting on Bread's "If" and a Steely Dan song, who's name eludes me...

Shannon, I love Weird Al!
I'm also a huge fan of Celtic, and my twin brother is all the time bringing me new metal/goth/various kinds of music because he knows I'll like them.
I really only listen to CD's in my car (and since I just got this car its the first time I've been able to do so.. ) but I've been wanting to get an MP3 player.
Wyndy: Thanks!
