So for the past couple of years I've been using the blue snaz cases. The problem is that they are starting to look a little shabby. I've been thinking about transferring over to a couple of the Melron/Wolf/Snaz pallets. But I don't have the original paint cases to put them back into .

I have a few stray FX cases. Will they fit into the Melron pallets?

No, they won't....the face paint manufacturers have cleverly made their black cases to only fit their paints. The secret is in the foam on the inside.

What is the size difference between FX paints and Wolfe?

My snaz containers fit in the DFX foam alright.

wolfe containers are smaller in diameter but are taller than the DFX containers. I had to take my wolfe white out and put it into the container I use for my dfx white so that I could carry it in my case.

I recently got a bunch of neon colors from dfx but the majority of my kit was wolfe, I just bought an extra foam insert and stuck it in the other side of my laptop, now I have wolfe on one side and dfx on the other!

Hmmm.....I wonder where one would pick up foam that they could cut themselves? I've never seen a sheet without holes or slots for rings and such already pre-cut. I'm thinking...

Good 'open and play' kit that would look pretty nice and clean.

One source might be a thin foam camping sleep pad. The cheap ones are just a closed foam sheet that is about 1/2" thick. They are only a few dollars and seem to be perfect. I am currently making a "double wide" paint case and am considering using this foam because it is similar to what I have seen in my cases. I am building my case from scratch in thin maple and oak, so the foam will probably need to be cut custom.
You might have to glue the material in since the pad is rolled up and come out curved, but gluing is probably a good idea anyway. The one I have is a pretty green, almost an aqua.

I don't use Diamond so can't say what fits.

As for the typical case (the original Mehron cases - Wolfe does not make a case that is produced by Silly Farm who imprints Wolfe's name on it)
it will fit Paradise with lid and Both Kryolan 2.5 oz and Wolfe 45 fit if you leave the lids off the containers. Most any type of foam you're willing to cut will work.

Many forgo the foam so the can fit in an extra few cakes. They leave them either loose or use velcro. And so too they can add in various sizes or brands.

I ditched the inserts & velcroed my paint into the case. It fits more that way. I also use a scrapbook paper case for only $10 at Walmart & it works great, latches better that the Paradise case & is bigger.

Here is one of my kit cases from last year. I used a piece of the dense foam from some spare mats in our workout room (it was a bugger to cut out those holes, but they held the paint in even if I turned the kit upside down!). I didn't like this much because I couldn't pick up the paints while painting without considerable effort to unseat them from the grips of the foam.

Here is my kit that from this past fall (all nice and shiney because I use a lot my spares for pictures instead of my used up working paints...just looks better when clients ask to see your setup). This is a latching jewelry display case that I outfitted with sheet metal inside the top and bottom. Each pot of paint has a little silver magnet glued to the bottom. I like this setup because 1) I can customize it for the gig I'm going to so I can bring only one box if I'm limited on space, 2) I can pluck up any color I want with little effort, and 3) I can carry twice as much paint in less space because I can populate the lid with paint as well. The magnets are super strong so my paints stay where I put them ... unless you drop the case, they may get knocked around a bit.

Today I have only paint pots in my black cases and I have an empty Mehron pro case outfitted to hold my splits in the same magnatized fashion.
