I'm not good at roses yet either... Sometimes it is a real struggle.... But practise makes perfect I always say, so still keeping on doing that....

There are a variety of roses here with different levels of expertise. To the beginners, realize that some of these roses took a great deal of time, while others were done within a few minutes. The latter are what we are painting on the kids in line. We don't have time for the very awesome roses. Practice always makes a difference for all of us. Keep watching videos that are posted on you tube and such. You'll notice the difference in your work...I think I'd better go practice now

I've been experimenting with multi-color 1 stroke, and going back over with white linework.

Just found this thread. Roses scare me, I attempted them a couple of times but they just looked awful. Seeing this has inspired me to try again....there's nothing worse than being stuck at the office and seeing something like this knowing you can't practise, like, right this minute....damn you boring day job!!

Try using an angle brush too.
Love making them with it

Denise, your roses are wonderful.                                 My method:      first: loading for brush:  split cake white- pink- red  - and start painting.
second: loading  for brush: white only (liquid) and continue painting
