1st uv neon/black light design :)

I just bought a black light bulb for my daughter's 11th b-day party, she is having an 80's party well, I got my tag neon rainbow cake and regular dfx white. My daughter said "YES" immediately when I told her it would glow in the dark LOL I might do some neon designs for the girls the day of the party.

now that is wicked!!! what a shame they didn't come before the competition ended!!! i would have voted for that!

Synny, I always had a rainbow cake, what I didn't have was the black light LOL I guess it never occurred to me I didn't need the white neon.

Yay! I think I am more exited than her LOL The girls will wear 80's outfit, I bought neon shutter sunglasses and neon jelly bracelets. I am painting their nails neon colors too. They will be playing the Just dance wii game. I will take pictures. When is her birthday?

This is stunning Maggie! I wish I weren't such an old-broad... I'd love to paint at a party that featured black lighting. As it stands...when you turn the lights out around me...I think it's bedtime. I'm no spring chicken sad to say. Your design is awesome and would be a hit at those midnight bowling type things!

Thanks LJ! I am not spring chicken either, black light really messes me up, it is like getting my pupils dilated hahahaha. My daughter thinks it is the coolest thing ever LOL
I think next time we go to one of those bowling parties I'll paint our faces and bring cards, thanks for the idea

I bught my ticket to go but couldn't because of weather, kids didn't have school and husband was away.

Hannah's birthday is in March. She is a true Irish St. Patty's baby. She loves the peace sign things so, wants to combine the 60's and 70's...not sure how I am going to do that so, that is why I LOVED the black light idea and the design that you painted is versatile so, I am totally selling her on the idea for the black light party. We don't have a wii though so sad for us, so I will need to borrow other ideas from you LOL! Looking forward to seeing your pictures!

Amanda's real birthday is tomorrow, she will be 11 and going on 17 lol I would do karaoke (spell), you can do that with a mic and a laptop, not sure how to but my friends does it all the time, the only thing is that you have to be right next to them the whole time because of what you can come accross youtube by accident

I also got a disco ball with to light that point to it and it works great!

I am just going to get neon poster board and cut things out for decoration, I want to tape neon balloons on one wall too. We'll see if I get it done LOL

I've seen peace sign sunglasses. Big flowers, smiley faces, bead neckaces...So much FUN!

Any suggestions for which brands/colors go best with UV/black light? Was this just a neon rainbow cake? Any 'neons' will work? VERY curious...I have been asked about this by a client!

This little cake is awesome, the pictures don't do justice or maybe the photographer is the problem hnmm-hmm. Even on regular light is so vibrant.

I think Tag, wolfe, dfx and kryolan all react to black light.

It sounds like our daughters are the same age. Hannah will be 11 on her birthday. Please do post some pics, I would love to see them. It sounds like fun! I will surely need to watch my budget because they do have some pretty cool stuff out for peace signs right now!!! It will be fun I think! I am ordering the neon balloons, someone told me they are also black light sensitive... I am not sure about that though. I haven't used them before.

Cool! Where did you find the balloons? Last night when I was painting my white socks were glowing lol If I don't find neon balloons I'll get white ones then

Sorry, I have no idea, but I'm thinking the more you have, the better things will glow! Let us know how it turns out!

Guys, why not post a request for Black lights on your local freecycle?

Larocks has the balloons. I am not sure if they actually glow, but, someone showed me a picture of another birthday party and they sure looked like they were glowing so, I hope that they work!

Too bad we don't live closer Maggie. We could combine forces and save ourselves some money. We would just need to figure out how to talk our girls into choosing similar themes every year LOL!!!!
