A Good Yellow and Orange???
Okay... so I love how well paradise blends... but the orange doesn't look orange and the yellow is just horrible... Aside from Snazaroo... I don't use it because of the summer climate here... What other yellows and orange blend really well? Any hints? I've avoided a lot of wolfe colors just because I was always told that the non-metallics don't blend.
Help please!!!

Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
i love my TAG colours never had a problem blending them and the colours are really vibrant!
Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
I hope you get plenty of answers for this because I have the exact same problem. I love Paradise too, but I die a little inside every time someone wants a tiger and I'm forced to use those two colors, particularly the yellow. Orange and yellow are inherently bright and vibrant colors, but the Paradise ones just seem dull and flat.
Anyway, glad I'm not the only one! And maybe I'll look into those TAG colors.

You should have just called it Sandbob
Hmm, do you have a Spongebob tutorial on youtube? I can't seem to find a Spongebob design that I really like and I just adore your videos.

Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
Clayton. Wolfe, DFX, and TAG blend differently than Paradise. You can blend them just as well, you just have to work with them a little differently. I didn't think they blended at first either, but it was because I was trying to blend them the same way I blend Paradise. You just have to play with them and you'll find what works for you. But for the summer, you really could just go with starblends.
Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
Whitney did you ever try to see what your avatar design looks like under a black light? It looks great as it is the colors are nice.....Just curious.

Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
I haven't bought a black light yet, but I'm hoping to sneak one into our next paycheck. I need one around for some body art designs I would like to get around to eventually so having it to test out the avatar design would be nice too. My only concern is that I completely winged it so I'm not sure if I can recreate it exactly like the original one.
Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
Actually I just bought some starblends. I really like them a lot, but haven't experiment much with them. Guess I'll have to try out the TAG orange and yellow though. I suppose I could just go with the metallic ones... I know they blend great.
Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
I have never had any issues blending my Wolfe colors. I do use a bit more water though, so that might help... When I use two or three base colors I will load them on the same sponge and I have noticed that is much easier than blending with each on it's own sponge or brush.

Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
Clayton, If I were you, I'd just use the metallics. They are what I would go to instead of the flat colors every time.
Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
Lol! So true. I have a whole pallet of metallics. Is there much difference between the metallic yellow and metallic gold?
Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
Hi Clayton, I bought the dfx metallix gold and it looks very yellowish.
Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
PS: I used it here
When I want my gold to look more gold I pair it with the old gold, it looks amazing!

Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
I live in the Midwest, so I worry about melting paints as well... however- I use Snaz yellow and orange (LOVE them)... and I just built a little tent cover for my paints! I have my table, and my husband built tray that has legs that fold down- I set my brushes, towels, and glitter on it, and my paints below it! Sun stays off, and the breeze usually keeps my paints cool!!.
They tray folds up and fits in my little carrying case!

Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
We get a lot of hot and humid weather in TN so, Snaz does melt. I use all brands of paints but it is still my favorite for blending faces. But Kryolon works pretty well with blending. I think the colors are rich.
Re: A Good Yellow and Orange???
Hi Clayton
I bought Jest Yellow upon your recommendation on youtube and blended it in with my Kryolan Orange - which I LOVE!
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE Paradise but their orange is bad! Paradise yellow is ok though.
Anyway - here is a picture of Paradise yellow (at the left hand side/fat end) blended in with Kryolan Orange (in the middle) and then Jest Yellow (at the skinny/hand/right hand side end). The Jest yellow is a little brighter but the paradise yellow comes up ok too. . . . possibly not enough 'bling / impact' for you hee hee (I love your bling!)
Both blended in fine with the Kryolan. I find krylon and paradise work well together . . . they're not as 'waxy' as DFW, WFX and Jest.
Lisa Joy Young has suggested to me that DFX Metallic Yellow and Metallic Orange is good for tigers. (I'm sure she wouldn't mind me sharing, she's such a sweet heart!!! Pretty sure I am her No1 fan!) I recently bought some from Metina and will demo it if you like when I get it.
Hope that helps

Hey Clayton,
We're both from Chi (loved the fact that the memorial picnics here took place under 10 feet of water, how about you?) and I hear you loud and clear on the Snaz melting in the heat and humidity. I'll still use Snaz for a winter b-day party or for a definate indoor event (well, I'll bring it with my kit so that I have it if I decide to use it). But that's really the main reason I switched over most of my paint colors to DFX (Splits are wolfe and tag, some kryolan). I like to mix together the DFX metallics with the essential colors for something that really pops (see unicorn for old gold example. Please pardon the horrific lighting.)
I find that the old gold is nicer than the metallic yellow (but again that's a personal opinion. Do you want me to do a swtach comparison for you?) Personally, for yellow yellow I prefer to use the regular DFX essential yellow. Diamond FX takes a little practice with regards to water, but once you 'get it' it blends very well. I used to find that snaz needed a ton of water for activation, but my DFX needs very little. Also with regards to blending, with Snaz sometimes I could use a brush and still get the 'look' I wanted. With DFX, its wayyy easier to use a sponge.
