What 2011 convention should I attend? Las Vegas or Orlando?
Hi all, I'm new to posting and thought this would be a great first question. I've been a face painter for a long time - not really as a career but making a bit of money here with random parties and alot of freebie non-profit stuff as well. I've reached a level that I feel I can start to look at this as a career option. I want to attend a convention this year to build my confidence (never have) but am not sure if I should go to the www.FPBAconvention.com or the www.FABAIC.com ---any thoughts on either one for a newbie would be appreciated.

Unfortunately I won't be attending either... but... From what I understand FABIAC is supposed to be huge this year. It's the 10th anniversary and Marcella said they are really going to go overboard.

I have been to FABAIC and I will be doing my best to get there for the 10th anniversary. Just recently found out about the Vegas one, maybe next year for that one.

It seems flights are much cheaper to the Orlando one for me. That might sway my decision. I'm sure either one would be fantastic for a newbie. Thanks for the comments.

I was curious about the other conventions when I attended FABAIC for the first time last year. While I was there, I took the time to ask the Pro's that go to all the conventions which one was the best. Everyone I talked to said FABAIC in Orlando was the best one state side and almost all the major ones overseas are better than that one.

I wish I could go to one. I would go to Vagas b/c I heard it will be a little smaller and I like that aspect. It is also a bit closer and we have allegiant air and they fly to Vegas for super cheap right now it is only $29 each way. Pluse I have never been to Vegas.

I have not been to the Vegas one but I have friends who will be teaching there this year.
The buzz from last year was that the event was disorganized, but every convention has growing pains.
I also know that everything worthwile doing in Vegas is on the strip, but you have to have 60% of your face showing. This means you have to wash your face if you want to go out for dinner or go see a show. That is a big hassle for me.
That being said, Vegas is probably going to be super small this year, so if you do go you will get tons of hands on personal time with the instructors
I will personally be going to FABAIC since I also hit up 3 smaller conventions during the year.
See you!

Are there alot of facepainters in LV or do you think most will just travel in? My DH wants to hit Vegas on vacation in May....would love to jam while there! Wish I could make it during the convention, but that's not going to happen.

Thanks for the insight. I did make the final decision to attend FABAIC in Orlando and am SOOO excited!! I actually stayed in the DoubleTree a few years ago on a family vacation to Universal Studios. It is literally a 15 minute walk to the entrance. The hotel is amazing!
