Re: How much do you charge at PPF?
well here in lacrosse wisconsin.. I charge 3.00 cheek art..5.00 for half of a face..and 7.00 for a full face..im getting ready to go up to 5 for cheek art 7.00 for half face and 10.00 for full faces..we will see what happens..I can always go down if I have no line..but I have never had that problem yet.
Re: How much do you charge at PPF?
I usually charge $5 a face (although I never do full full faces, usually just masks/top haves of the face) and $3 a quick design.
I have a card with the basic $3 faces which are super basic and then the rest people are free to choose.
If its a smaller event I will often just charge $4 for everything.
My last big weekend I had one girl not pay and then she came back the next day and I heard her walking past telling her mum how she got free face painting yesterday and wanted it again... ah No!

I currently charge $5 per face paint design no matter what they want.
When I've got my display set-up sorted out I'll probably go the two tier system - $5 for 2 cheeks or mask (basically up to half a face) and $7 for a full face.
I also charge $7 for one glitter tattoo or two for $10 (as the stencil/glue/glitter cost more than the paint.)

I've actually not changed my price in about 5 years, $5 quarter face (one eye and lips), $8 for mask/half face, $10 full face.
We don't offer cheek art advertised. The only time we even bring it up is when a little-bitty person comes in, and then we charge $3.
Lynnie thank you for this! I've been wanting to go to a tiered system and not sure how I was going to break it down, this is great

Re: How much do you charge at PPF?
Are we comparing the same dollars, though? A dollar in the US is not the same as a dollar in Canada or NZ, right?
Re: How much do you charge at PPF?
My pleasure, Trina!
We have tiered systems in place for glitter tattoos and airbrush ones as well. The only thing we don't use it for is henna.
Earthorange, the exchange rate between US and Canada is negligible at this point. They are about even.
I'm not sure about NZ. Used to be the US dollar was super strong there, which I loved when I was there. Not so much anymore.
One of the important things to remember is to do market research to make sure you are on par with other people of your quality in your area and not undercut them. The only way to have people respect what you do enough to pay what you ask is if you present a unified front in that scope, even if you don't like the other artists it's more about gaining ground for our art, not a service to them.

Re: How much do you charge at PPF?
I charge $3 for cheek art (really simple stuff that I can do in under 3 mins), $5 for half face/masks, and $8 for full or intricate designs. I did a celtic knot on this boy for practice, on his hand, and it took longer than my full-face tiger. No one ever pays for it, but it's nice to show what I can do. I've also thought about raising my prices a hair, because I keep very busy, but I get tipped a lot of the time so that makes me happy I'm also finding that doing these hot summer months (it was 95 on Sunday) most parents/kids stuck with the smaller designs that wouldn't sweat off. Now I'm looking for more small simple designs to add.

Re: How much do you charge at PPF?
Hi, I live in NY, and I charge $9 for a full face $6 for an arm or cheek, I saw some people who charge $7 for a full face design but only using cryons!!! using just a chair as their stage and the people pay!!, I don't mean they do a bad work, but with cryons you can't do higthligts, shades, rainbow colors, drops, etc, you can't give the fantastic details that you can do with face paint that's what I meant.
Re: How much do you charge at PPF?
I already posted this on another thread, but I thought I'd add it here, too
I usually charge $3 for small stuff and $5 for half face or full. Depending on my location or event, I will go up or down/ offer bigger or smaller designs.

Re: How much do you charge at PPF?
My prices depend on where I am...but I never do the tiered system. 2 reasons, one people WILL pay for the full face if that is what you offer, and second, why take time messing around making change and trying to remember how many kids in the family got which price level blahhhhhh... I charge $8 per face or glitter tattoo at most events, a couple of them have really high booth fees so I charge $10 per face and glitter. If someone specifically asks for 'something little' I'll offer a price based on the request at the time, or if I see a family walking by that may not have the $$, I'll offer a deal... but realistically, I am a priveledge, not a right. _I_ can't afford to pay to have my kids faces done at most events we attend, I don't expect those artists to lower their prices to make it possible, I need to worry about MY bills, and MY familly first and foremost, I don't set my prices to gouge, they are set based on my skill and what I need to live. I will NOT go above $10 though, I don't see the need...just my .02 and these are prices I have used in Ontario Canada and at the NY State Fair

Re: How much do you charge at PPF?
Well I did raise my Pay per face rates During the 4th of july festival..to 5.00 7.00 and 9.00. my husband takes the money and talks to the people about face painting..birthday parties, and so on..it was a 2 day festival from a town close to where he grew up...this is the 3rd year that I have been there...no one complained about the prices. and I was busy both days..i offered glitter tattoos this year and they were a big hit due to the heat and humidity here...and this was a small town festival...very small town..so ladies charge what you are worth..I was a little skeptical but it was well worth the increase..and I donated 25 percent back to the lions club as they don't charge me a booth fee..they were very pleased this year with what i gave them....
