Santa's on the 'naughty' list...
OK, my husband doesn't have a good track record for gift giving, but this year takes the cake! This is what I found in my stocking yesterday amongst the 'chocolate' and other doo dads he picked up at the drugstore...
Yes...that's right...a girdle! Now, admittedly I am heavier than I should/could be, and I complain about it occasionally, but it's NEVER a good idea to buy a woman a girdle. I know his heart was in the right place, but seriously? I'm just glad he sucks at hiding receipts and I can take it back. The icing on the cake is it's still too small for my big butt.
Someone posted this on facebook awhile ago and I just wish I could find this doghouse...

Awesome. He can join my husband who got me a can of malt liquor for Mother's Day! Ahhh, it's a good thing we love them...
Re: Santa's on the 'naughty' list...
Oh No! This would make me mad but I could just picture him running out of time trying to get a clue from you LOL Men...they have good intentions but they don't always know how to execute them.
LOL Geek!

HaHa! Hubby Fail! Nothin' says I Love You like Lycra
My hubby has a difficult time in the gift giving department. Years ago my hubby got me a Navy Wives Cruise Jacket(it has patches of all the locations he'd been) that would fit Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was so proud of it, I didn't have the heart to tell him it was way too big.
But, I agree, we love them anyway!

Re: Santa's on the 'naughty' list...
I have now taken to cutting out pics of things in magazines and copying stuff on the internet. This way he has a array of things to choose from but there is still that small element of surprise due to the fact I really don't know what he will choose.
This helps him from being in the doghouse (ie: buying me an electric toothbrush or a Britney Spears CD) and from me being "Magna Surprised!" Should we submit that phrase to wikipedia Magna?

Re: Santa's on the 'naughty' list...
I hate surprises! LOL
I too have made lists and cut out flyer photos and even put things on lay away so he has a clue. That was my problem this year I guess, I didn't give him a list. We'd agreed we'd buy our own gifts, wrap them and open them in front of the kids. I'd forgotten about stockings...
The problem is, even when I give him a list he messes it up. I've stopped putting 'black socks' on there because the last time he bought me men's navy sports socks, the time before that were also men's socks. I had to give them away to a friend because they're too big for me and too small for him. He takes king size. Last year he bought me a BluRay DVD and we didn't even have the machine for it.
I'm not mad, I actually think it's funny. I don't want to hurt his feelings and tell him though. So thanks for letting me 'vent' here

Re: Santa's on the 'naughty' list...
But... aren't socks and underwear traditional Christmas presents??
Re: Santa's on the 'naughty' list...
Cool article. My only beef with my husband is that he buys stuff for me for the kitchen that he secretly wants replaced. Why doesn't he just replace these things that he can't stand and be done with rather than taking as an opp. for him to give me Christmas presents.
I don't know how many years in a row I am going to get new baking sheets cause my husband just doesn't get that this things will always stain and look gross and no matter how expensive, something will always stick to them! The old ones worked fine, but I got three more this Christmas!

Shannon...underwear for kids OK, 'spanx' for mom...not OK! BTW I love that you're classed as 'new member' now with only 5 posts!
Gina, good article. As a wedding planning instructor I recommend counselling for all couples planning a wedding. It's true...men are simple, just not easy. It's hard to lower expectations!
Metina, I don't know what to say to that...LOL Maybe put him on clean up detail. Explain that it's not 'stains' it's called being 'seasoned'. That's what my mom said anyway.

Re: Santa's on the 'naughty' list...
This was toooo funny! Oh man... men are so clueless...
Well, the last few years that I didn't mention wanting anything specific for Christmas or my birthday, guess what? I didn't get anything at all. So this year I told him exactly what to get me. Not as much fun as being surprised by a thoughtful gift, but better than being surprised with absolutely nothing. LOL.

Saw this ad on a movie 'Mona Lisa Smile' with Julia Roberts...made me laugh...
(the ad, not the movie)
A friend of mine got a 'Roomba' for Christmas from her husband...it's a 'robot' vaccuum. When he saw her disappointed face, he said..."I bought you TIME, so you could spend more time with us." She felt bad after that, but really...men don't think things through.

Re: Santa's on the 'naughty' list...
Well Suzy, maybe ask him what conditions need to be in place for redemption. He should specify with the 'fine print' next time.
So...I've returned everything . I've got back about $110 from all the stuff I totally wouldn't use from my stocking. I almost got away with it too, until he moved the bag of 'soaps' (waiting to be returned) from the front seat the other day when we went out as a family. I knew I should have returned them the day before. Oh well, maybe he'll get the hint finally that I don't like handsoaps. I only use liquid soap. I don't like goopy soaps...yuck!

Suzy, you might need to threaten a lawsuit in order to redeem your coupons.
