Mardi Gras Couple
I wanted to share this story. I got an email from a gentleman asking if I could paint he and his wife for a Mardi Gras party. I said yes and asked what design they were interested in. He sent me back a picture of a couple painted with Paul Stanley (KISS) faces, stars on opposite eyes, no eyebrow painted on.
He said his wife wanted a blue star and he wanted the black.
I figured that the couple was going to be in their 30's from the request and was surprised to find that they were an ultra-reserved couple from Iowa in their mid-60's......LOVE IT!
Yesterday I got this email and picture. too bad the pic wasn't taken at a different angle because I truly was proud of how symmetrical I got the stars.
"Cheryl,
The face painting was a hit. People commented on how perfect the stars were painted.
Thanks,
Burrell & Catherine"

Re: Mardi Gras Couple
Yeah, they were very low key in a way that only Mid-Westerners can understand.
My son thought they were so serious, but partly growing up in Nebraska I understood the subtle queues they put out. For instance the small smile the guy had on his face when telling me about how this all was his idea made me know he was just tickled to death with himself for coming up with something so clever.
My son on the other hand (only used to the extraverted East Coast personality) didn't get that at all.
I had a blast painting them and it brought back a lot of memories of being in high school in Nebraska for me.
