A happy 'Howdee Ho People' from Canada!
Well my very first post!
Noob here.... I guess I will start with and introduction! I am Kim from Winnipeg and I'm actually a professional henna artist (Indian bridal as well as modern contemporary) and have taught in India, London, Las Vegas, etc. and had been veeery lightly bitten by the bug last year but left my Snazarroo kit kinda by the wayside until doing a party where I knew there would be lots of little ones too young for henna and was HOOKED! My brushes were awful and super cheap, and it showed, but everyone was THRILLED! (I was happy they were happy but puzzled that they were so excited about it) I've been studing all week day and night and have discovered that there are some truly amazing peeps on this board with tons O' talent and I have to thank everyone here that posts such wonderful info and are sooo supportive of those of us who are just learning! I hope to be altering my website by the end of the winter to include a facepaint section thanks to all of you! *place standing ovation here from me to you*
(As an aside, I have no plans or interest in a bounce house and loved the prequil Caprica that just recently wrapped up!!-response to a couple of other 'introduction' posts! )
I really look forward to learning from all of you!!
Very best regards,
Kim

Welcome to the forum Kim! That is good news, about the bounce house. LOL. Michigan is close to Canada, and we all know how much competition there already is in "that area".
Congrats on adding face painting to your henna business. Fun!

Re: A happy 'Howdee Ho People' from Canada!
Thank you again everyone! I have some shots in my 'gallery' here at this forum as I don't have any photos of almost any faces yet but I didn't see a section on henna here but I did see a 'chat box'! Very cool!
Here is my little sample of what I do...much more on my website
My henna work
Any hints on where the henna section is??
And thank you again for the warm welcome! I am very excited to breathe new life into my Snazaroo box and am on the search now for rainbow cakes I can afford!

Thanks Linda! That is so kind of you to say! I see it and may go an introduce myself, but I think I have the henna part 'covered' LOL
I may see if helpful hints are required by others tho. You know...a bit of 'give back' to this forum where I have already learned so much! AS a matter of fact, the avatar I am using was the first face half mask I had ever done, and today I did the one below...my first full mask ever! Need to get speedier and cleaner. Need to get my paints more 'organized' so I'm not getting the cakes dirty-ish. I would say this was 'inspired by' but it's more like a direct copy of Green Cheetah Face by Marvelous Masks Chicago Face Painting but I didn't use the sparkles he did and I had no metalic paints...so I guess this is the 'subdued' version of his design.

Critique/hints welcome!

Metzpah - Is that a Steampunk Fairy costume?? Cool! My next book is steampunk designs! Actually I'm a bit behind and my publisher is .....enquiring! A funny thing happened to me.....it's called FACEPAINTING! Horribly distracting!
Mandi & Gilded Cat- Thank you both so much for your kind thoughts! To G-Cat - Almost all of the designs are my own...some of which can be found in my books but for the most part they are 'on the fly' designs as I get inspired as I go.
Hey Criss! Howzit goin' eh? Considering how low the population is in our country I am always thrilled to see a fellow Canadian! Would love to see more of your work....any webpage in the making??

Re: A happy 'Howdee Ho People' from Canada!
funny you should ask, that particular fairy gear was just generic but I did do a steampunk fairy last time I did dress up!
Re: A happy 'Howdee Ho People' from Canada!
LOL It just looks very nifty. It looks like a flying goggle cap (very SP) and the pic is small so it looks almost like a tool belt, and then the pants...just thought it looked like a funky SP fairy! Are you on ropes? Trampoline? How did you get the shot?? (I know...horribly off topic, but enquiring minds wanna know!)

lol! I was on a harness I think there were hydrolics or something involved as there was a generator and the hoses attached to the harness got more taut, and bouncing on a trampoline. My husband was on the ground snapping pictures.
here is a posed still shot to see the costume a bit better. I guess there enough steamy elements I could switch the crown for my aviator cap and goggles so it could be a wholey steampunk look

The land of Slurpee?
Am not the only one who thinks Canadian slushee style drinks are the best? or is that a poke at the weather?
Re: A happy 'Howdee Ho People' from Canada!
@Geekophile- You are going to make me blush!! Thanks for the wonderful and kind welcome! Yeah... I am a Geek over many interests....Henna, Bollywood (SRK makes me weak in the knees!), Many moons ago I used to dress as a Klingon, I love 'Being Human', Caprica, Old Star Trek, New Star Trek, AND I play for 'both sides', I also like Star WARS! (OOooo! Bad geek BAD geek!) I'm an animation junkie (Megamind, Despicable Me- anything Pixar, Disney or Dreamworks). I'm not anti-bounce house, I just don't want them moving into my neighborhood.... Yeah.....lame joke! :-) I really am over the moon to have found this place!!!
@Anita - Thank you for the welcome and the kind words!!
@metzpah - Oh you could TOTALLY poke at our weather, but it's actually a wierd Winterpeg fact....we are the Slurpee Capital of the world for I don't even know how many years running. (you can even google it right from the company!) We will go out in -40 in January, grab a slurpee (usually in the biggest cup because it's the 'more bang for your buck) and go to an outdoor event or take it home. (we are also notoriously cheap so some companies test products here with a 'if we can make it there, we can make it anywhere!' mentality). Most 'Sevs' (we call our 7-11 stores-Sev as in 'go over to the Sev and get a slurpee') have 4 - 8 machines/flavours and in the summer you have to go early as it's hard for the machines to keep up with demand when it's hot out. I sometimes really think we are like the city version of that old show 'Northern Exposure'. We are pretty 'quirky' up here. AND I will stop blabbering now after I ask one question.....yes, I do prefer Canauck slurpees cause I gotta ask...WHAT the HECK do they put in them down there that makes them that funny texture? (Ok...funny to me) AND do you facepaint in that adorable fairy costume or is that just for fun and cool factor?
