Learning from Lucie Empty Learning from Lucie

Post by Kristal Thu Nov 25, 2010 3:47 am

Saw Magna's post and yes, I am going to post my pix! (Which meant I totally forgot to write in your thread, haha...and I still have your memory card. Forgot to give it to you!)

So yes, Magna and I were lucky enough to have the fabulous Lucie Brouillard teach a 2 day workshop here in BC! I couldn't even form sentences by the end of today - that's how you know my brain is working Razz

It's the first time I've taken a class with Lucie, and I decided it was comfort zone pushing time - so no painting a cheek unicorn when mine is similar - instead, I attempt a Lucie-abstract on our very own Magna:

Needs some work, was mildly terrifying Razz, and immediately after I wish I'd done some things differently, but all in all, pretty pleased.

And today was my first attempt at anything larger than a belly - so much canvas to work with! I went to theatre school with my model. We both still act occasionally, and now I occasionally emcee, and she's a full time magician's assistant with her fiancé, so a theatre theme was a good choice! I don't know how Yvonne and Magna got so much body painted in that time - it took me forever to even do my blending, haha. Baby steps.

And a closeup of my cameo necklace attempt. It's no Ambah! (And why is my Snaz white so flaky?) but it's one body down, and many more to go!

Awesome work Kristal! Thought I'd left a message last night, but I guess it didn't post. So tired today I took a nap and slept past my alarm so my kids had to call from the school and wake me up! It's our first 'snow day' too. I'm a BAD mom!

Thanks for making me look good during our facepainting workshop Kristal!
Here's another one Kristal did on me, plus what Lucie did on Kristal...she's a Pink Lion!

Thanks, Lovelies!

(I was so pooped today, haha. Slept in, woke up with a headache (from oversleeping?!), then napped it off...)

You know, as I was doing the necklace, I did think about taking SBS pictures for the contest, but was on such a roll I didn't want to stop! I very well may re-do it.

Linda - you should have flown over and come to the class with us! Razz

I'm still absorbing - but am already thinking of ways to use some of her techniques on my next belly.

I love our work Very Happy

I was so exhausted today too! Slept through my alarm after taking a very rare nap and was late picking up my kids from school! Real bummer since we got our 1st major snowfall today and nearly didn't get out of my driveway. Not a good thing when you're in a rush.

I posted some pics on facebook Kristal Very Happy

...then what's a girl to do?! I'll give it a spray with a glycerin mix and see if that helps...I'm potentially doing a snow globe belly next week (though I'm kind of hoping she chooses the jungle one!), and don't want the snowmen to flake off like the fish bowl started to!

I need to get some pix up on FB; I've just been bogged down. I'm actually at work right now...haha. (No, not a party - can you imagine?)

Lucie says if you keep the paint layers thin, they don't flake. Hard to do with white though.

Exactly. I'll play and see what I can come up with...Maybe I'll crack open a Kryolan white too, and compare - then I'll have 3 whites kicking around Razz

I haven't got the Kryolan, but I have the Paradise, DFX & Snaz. I guess I do have the pearl/silver Kryolan, and Fantasy Worldwide pearl white too...you can never have too much white!

Do you have paradise white? It's the best, won't flake & has awesome coverage. Kryolan is good, but is too creamy for me. I love the coverage & blending but, it takes longer to dry, so it smears. I'm using it right now because I could get it from my local costume shop & ran out of paradise.
