Just had to laugh at my friends!
They've been seeing my FP attempts on FaceBook and they made the comment that they looked so "Professional" I had to LOL and tell them, "Obviously you've never been to a face paint forum." I said you should see what professional face painters can do. It was a very nice compliment though. Gave me confidence to keep trying.
Re: Just had to laugh at my friends!
I think you're starting face painting is great!
You should have seen the sloppy, drippy, runny faces I was doing when I started. It was all done w/ a mop/pouncer & I was taught to dunk it in my dirty water, squish out the water & rub it around in the paint. Slap it on the kids face. And guess what... I got all the complements from moms & dads on how good it was(oh... if I had photos of those days

I agree. Your work is great! When I started I was trained to use only those face paint crayons. I got a lot of compliments too but looking back, it seemed rather messy. I don't think I made a line thinner than 1/4 inch for the first two years! LoL I love this forum for all the sharing and learning. I wish I had it 19 years ago! Thanks Metina and everyone else who has taught me so much in such a friendly manner.

Ya'll are sweet. I do love being here. It's such a positive place to learn and so many incredible artists. I'm amazed everyday I come here.
Re: Just had to laugh at my friends!
My friends did the same thing. When I facepainted for my friend's daughter's birthday, they were saying I was so awesome, and I just kept telling them I'm still new and will get better. They kept saying I was amazing as was and didn't need to get any better. They've clearly never seen really good face painting. lol

Flopsie-I had those crayons, too! Didn't know any different at the time!

I had the same thing with my friends - I painted some of my daughter's friends faces at a birthday party for practice & they all thought it was really good. i got asked to help out at a kindergarten function the following week from that! I'm still a beginner, but have learnt heaps already from this forum.

Johnny Browns, the crayons, is what I started with when I was eleven. I think that was about a 100 or so years ago...lol
You are doing a fantastic job and you should be proud!
