You're right Amylady, that was nice, with the old people too. And I liked that most just wore their regular face with a red nose, so many people are scared of clowns!!
Re: You'll laugh---you'll cry---
I am getting into clowning now---I read every book on clowning I could find when I was in middle school and even signed up for a clowning class in our area, but I was the only one so they cancelled it-
Working in a childrens hospital was the original idea, but where I live now, there is none (3 hours away is the closest) so a nursing home would be more available.
Also I wore my costume on Halloween to the local preschool where I do story time. Only one little girl was scared of me, she just stared at me the whole time and wouldn't talk or engage with me.
I don't know how the fear started (the movie IT?--which I think is stupid BTW)---but I feel bad for people who are freaked out by clowns--Little kids understandable---they are really colorful, have crazy faces, different hair, big feet--- that can be scary cause it is so different, but older people---I just don't get it.

I should have been a clown....
I felt the calling for many years.
But I also felt the calling to be a baseball umpire.
You laugh, but true story...I even registered for umpire school but had to turn it down because I couldn't afford to keep my apartment AND be at school simultaneously.

Miss Ronnie---I am NOT laughing---Do it---go online learn how to do it and then do it for little leauge (sp?) or something---If you have a dream follow it! Go for it!
Plus, as for the clown we have some pretty amazing resources on here---go for it.
I am trying to find some good one person clowning ideas---Youtube is NO help at all--at least not with what I am typing in.
maybe I will start a clown thread---hummm--yep--off to do that right now!

Amy, thank you for sharing that link. Sooo sweet to see people giving of themselves to the old and disabled! You should really follow your dreams and do it! What a gift.

Re: You'll laugh---you'll cry---
I have a serious fear of clowns and it actually started when I was a kid...my Dad told me a scary but true story about John Wayne Gacy who used to work as a clown. I live close to the area that Gacy "operated" in so it has freaked me out ever since... It really is a serious problem for some people. I am struggling with overcoming my "Coulrophobia" now that I may have to work along side some. I have actually considered therapy or just giving up on painting because it has been so hard. I have noticed that as long as I know the person that is in the clown attire I am fine though. And on tv, photos, dolls, etc. don't bother me...
