Need some help, important asap

Hey everyone,
Ok, I just got hired to paint the cast for Alice in wonderland at our local middle school in two weeks. They are paying me $100hr for 8 hrs. of work divided into three days. This is an awsome oppurtunity for me b/c if I do this right, i could be hired for every play held at the middle and high school from now on!

There are 22 main characters...Most I have no problem with ideas and others I need help!!

The design ideas i need help with.......
Tweedle Dee and Dum
The Do Do Bird...I am most worried about how to pull this one off.
Cheshire cat...needs to be easy b/c i have to paint three of them for the show.
I am sure I will add more to this list if I get stumped again.

Please, if anyone has any ideas for these characters!! Oh and the play is a mix of new and old alice in wonderland, and remember I will be painting middle school kids for this play.

Do you know if they're going with the recent movie tweedles (creepy) or the classic Disney version?
If it the Disney version, I would go with:

*flesh base

*orangy peachy rosy mix for nose and low lights

*start at the corner of the eye and go out under the eye with white to exaggerate the size of the eyes, line the regular lid line and exaggerated white portion all in black to make it as one eye

*exaggerated mouth length in brown and all lines on face in brown

Thanks guys, all these tips and pics are helping. I noticed no one has any ideas for the do do, lol he is going to be tough and I am stumped.

Have you checked the snazaroo bird pages, maybe begin with those ideas of the beak on the nose and work from there. facepaintchat had an alice in wonderful contest a few months ago, no dodos, though

On the Do Do bird could you maybe just get one of those string beaks that they sell that goes over the nose and then paint a feathery face...I am sort of thinking more like the Disney version for the style of artwork. Our local party City had the noses for Halloween, they had bird beaks, pigs, alligators, and other stuff... I think Oriental trading maybe had them too. I know that I saw them through another online ordering venue but can't recall where exactly.

Get the Disney book from the Library to look at pictures. I did this for some Dr. Suess Characters that I had to do this Halloween.

I dont understand what you mean about the eyes??
I get what you mean about the rest of the face

For the do do bird, what about something like Big Bird only different colors? Do a bird mask & have funny feathers sticking out at weird angles.... just a thought...

I was looking at the dodo pictures and really all I need to do is figure out how to paint the nose and have it look right!! If they have the hat and hair for the costume, I dont think I need to add feathers. I just think it is going to look weird if I put a huge beak over half the face and you can still see the actors nose and nostrils right in the middle of what is supposed to be smooth...do you get what I mean??

Ok ladies, here are some pics from the play...I was stressing to hard over the designs, everything i did was simple but worked great. Everyone loved the Cheshire cat and the queen of hearts, people could not stop taking pics at the end of the show. My name got put in the program as the makeup artist!! It was so much fun...hope i get to do it again!! Thanks for all your help guys, xoxo

















they divided the cheshire cat into three parts, the head, body and tail, so I only had to paint one of them as the cat
