Website Critique, please? Empty Website Critique, please?

Post by Sunrise Mon Nov 01, 2010 10:29 am

Hey all,

I'm still kind of a newbie around here; I joined the forum months ago but had to take a few months hiatus from FP and am now jumping back in and trying to get from hobbyist to professional level. I've just been fine-tuning my website - could I get some feedback? I would love any tips from all you seasoned folks!

BTW: I'm aware I have a terrible lack of boys' faces and I'm working on that. I don't have many boys around willing to let me experiment. Anyway, so - anything else I should be looking at?

I'm advertising on craigslist and mypartyplanner as of today.

I think the website looks lovely!! On the contract, you may want to list what you WILL do, to off-set the "limitations" section? (I will be set up and ready to paint on time, I will present a friendly face and professional demeanor, etc etc.)

Great photos, love the colors used, love the banner at the top! Smile

Oh, that's a good idea - yeah, I guess all the limitations could come off a bit negative? Maybe I've been reading too much of the "where's the beef?" section! Laughing

Thumbs up! I think it does the job nicely! If you want to try to optimize your site for being found for keywords such as "face painter west orlando" be sure include keywords like that in your page's meta title and meta description as well as repeating that in the copy. There's so much you can do to optimize - but those steps are sort of the basic. Much success to you!

Dawn,

Website looks very nice and professional! I see we are neighbors, so maybe we can meet up some time and share ideas... I am at the stage of trying to decide what and how I am doing this.

Great job & beautiful pics!
On the about us page, you might want to change the wording on your "uncompleted" projects. It might look like you're not good at following through as a business.

Thanks everybody...I will see about those minor changes. I didn't think about looking irresponsible with my "uncompleted projects" joke!

And leapinglizards - yeah, I would love to meet up and trade tips sometime. I'm finding it difficult to really get a foot in - individual FPers are up against some serious competition with all the corporate entertainers in this area. But I am having fun and learning stuff, so we'll see where it goes.

Your site is looking good & you work is just beautiful!

I'm pasting this off your site:
I am always keen to make up something on the spot for tough customers.

How about:
I love a challange, so if there's something you don't see, just ask me.

You don't want to give anyone the impression they are a"tough customer."

Don't ya just love words Very Happy

BTW, how far are you from Jacksonville, FL? We're almost neighbors!

I really like the way you have your site set up... I keep going back to it as I'm working on my own site, I like how easy yours is to navigate, and how neatly you have set out all your info. (If you're checking your stats, a lot of those hits from Canada are probably me!!) Mine is super basic but it will do for now. I need to work on SEO, I have zero keywords or meta tags (do they still use meta tags? Man, I'm out of date!).

If anyone wants to give me hints to improve my site, I would love it!!

Sunrise and Fabtastic - Great job on clean looking sites. Everything is easy to navigate and you don't get lost in fluff. Well done!
