Liquid face paints, anyone use them?
Hello folks,
Anyone out there use the liquid face paints? I recently saw a lady using Ben Nye magicolor liquid face paints at a local festival. To be honest, this is the first time I've seen them being used and she was quite good at it. I suppose it has pros such as always ready to go and no mixing needed. I'm sure there are cons also probably more when it comes to blending and such. She had them in a cool container system that kept them from falling over and also had pumps on the bottles to refill individual colors. It seemed like a little went a long way. Just got me curious.
I know Ben Nye makes the magicolor and of course Mehron has their liquids as well.
Just wondering if any of you all use them and if so, what do you like most and least about them? Hope everyone is doing great!

I use Fardel which comes in creams (in pumps and jars) and liquid.
I actually use Fardel liquid black which I put into a squeeze bottle to dispense it while I'm working - no contamination then!
The liquids are great for details, the creams are wonderful bases and blend beautifully. The Fardel (and FWW which is very similar) stay slightly tacky which keeps them bright and pliable while wearing.

I use Ben Nye and Mehron....
If using water color and hand painting, I prefer cakes (Wet or dry) for bases but i do LOVE the black and white for details. This also really lets me stay sanitary. Put a DOT onto a pallet for details and then I can use one brush with no double dipping.
Mehron thins nicely with water for airbrushing without clogging. Ben Nye clogs the MESS out of the airbrushes though.
The SIlly Farm brand FAB paint was my least favorite and I really had a bad reaction to the smell.
Kryolan Aqua color was fine for hand painting awful for airbrush.
Trying to remember which others I tried....

Yes, but it is SO hard to keep them from drying out! I put them in a little tealight cup, and try to remember to mist them. But then I get a wee bit of water on top and my brush picks that up first. So for *me* it is not a time saver after all
Re: Liquid face paints, anyone use them?
To me, one of the benefits of liquid would be squirting out JUST enough for a given face, for sanitation reasons. So, in that way it can't dry out.
Another reason would be if doing body paint, it is east to cover a large area with it, and can be mixed with sealer- but aside from that or airbrush, I think the cake makeups are easier to transport etc.

Re: Liquid face paints, anyone use them?
I've never use liquid face paints, but have painted with acrylics (on canvas not skin) and I would think that the liquid would be easier to mix colors without dirtying your cakes with another color or having to use 3 different brushes.
Do you find that to be true?

I haven't used them for face art, to be honest, only body painting. I like ben nye magicolor for airbrushing. If you use about 10% mehron mixing liquid with it, it shouldn't clog.
Re: Liquid face paints, anyone use them?
I used ben nye and final set, and they turned into this gooey gunk in my brush it was awful. I will try it with the mixing liquid... I prefer their line of colors over Mehron but have had the best LUCK with mehron.

I LOVE my FWW creams and Fardel liquids ! Could not paint with out them! The Fardel liquid metallics are just heaven! Creams and liquids are SO easy to work with and blend!
If I knew how to attach pictures I would show you some of the amazing colours!

I have used the Kryolon and Mehron...I think I should try the Fardel liquid. Seems that everyone really likes those.
