Painted my hubby up this weekend for a Halloween Party. Well....we needed to stop and get a couple of things at Target and.... we needed gas. It was so funny to see peoples reactions to him. Some people would not even look at him. lol And others stopped and waved like he was a celebrity. hee-hee the things we do to our hubbys Smile

Ofcourse when I've taken my daughter out (she's my avatar) EVERYBODY comments and tells her how awesome she looks. Smile

Do you ever go out for every day errands in your painted faces?? What kind of reactions do you get?

Here is a pic of him as the big bad Wolf... I was Red Riding Hood of course!

Ummm... your first wolf? You don't need a critique! But seriously, I think it's great.

I am a reserved personality so getting that much attention is really not my thing. I enjoy doing my art and then fading into the background to watch the reactions that the model gets. I'm working on becoming more outgoing, but haven't really got there yet.

I often end up having to pop over to the grocery store opposite my house with my face painted. All the staff know I do face painting (from the amount of times I have taking the girls over with their faces painted for bribes) I think they are often waiting to see what I paint next. They love it.
The costumers give mixed reactions, some totally love it and then there are those ones that pretend they haven't seen me.

I make a point of dropping by the grocery store or somewhere in public when I'm painted. It's great advertising. People (even us Canadians) often ask who painted me. I think it's funny when they're shocked I could paint myself...uh...I've been putting makeup on like most women a long time. LOL.

I gotta say I don't do it often - as I don't like the weird looks I get - I feel subconscious enough as it is - but my man has no such issues and quite enjoys freaking people out with scary faces - I'm always amazed he can keep a straight face while they are all reacting to him... I tend to get the giggles.
Last time he went painted in public he looked like this....

Thanks for sharing your experiences.
WMEventservices: I appreciate the compliment! Smile
Daizy, Zombie and Catz:
So interesting to me how people react but more so how they don't sometimes...I myself am a "people watcher". I love to imagine where people are going what they're like or do. BUT if I seen people out looking my hubby or Tash's I would be like "Where are you going? Who did your face? That is so cool." I would assume the person is very outgoing and wouldn't mind me asking.
Tash: That is so funny I painted my husband as a skull recently. I posted it here somewhere??? But he is like yours could care less actually likes the attention! hah Smile

Its funny you posted this thread, because I was just wondering about a simliar thing today! I often sit and practice on myself, and always imagine there will be a knock at the door and I picture myself opening the door looking like a zombie or something, and freaking out the poor visitor!! It hasn't happened yet, but if it did I dunno if I would answer the door....

I always paint myself for gigs, so I usually end up doing a bank deposit, or going to Target, etc in paint. I get mixed reactions. I love the people that act like they see nothing. Kids love it & I always have business cards.

try going through the drive thru in clown.... seriously. When I'm doing gigs all day, I've still gotta have lunch! Sometimes they laugh, sometimes they don't say much more than "going to a party?"... one girl at McDonald's totally flipped out (seriously? your mascot is a clown).

I will occasionally just go out to dinner or something with my face painted, but a lot of times people don't say anything. I rode the bus downtown in clown once... that was the quietest bus ride I've ever been on, no one would even look at me!

I never really go out painted. But, like perry I have to eat so, if I am working a festival then I usually have something on me. went to Zaxby's the other night with a rainbow on my face. I got some odd looks but I had Elmo on my hands the next night at Arby's and everyone there thought it was neat. I handed out cards. Funny huh?

I am totally doing that once I have my business set up, and going to the mall painted up, and hand out business cards to people who ask.

I think bank is the only place that one should not go into with a mask on.

Just last night we were headed to our church's trunk or treat party and I had painted mine and my sons faces like monsters! We stopped at McDonalds to grab a burger on the way and the lady in the drive through kept looking at me all crazy and it wasn't until I got to the church and saw my reflection in the window that I remembered 'oh yeah! My face is painted! Razz

I painted at the Cavs game last night until it started, then stopped to pick up dinner from a local restaurant. I heard one lady laugh out loud when i walked in, but other than that everyone just gave me weird looks and pretended like nothing was happening. Except for 3 teenage girls, who were definitely snickering and whispering to eachother like I didn't know they were talking about me. That kindof annoyed me... I'd rather people just say something to me or ignore me instead of talking behind your back, so to speak. The crazy thing was I wasn't painted with anything weird or even that much (by my standards at least). I guess people just don't know how to react so they usually don't.

Most people are very sweet and often more helpful than normal when you are painted, and then there are those with comments like: "you have something on your face" or "who hit you?" (if you have a purple eye design). At the end of a long day I can have some problems finding a good answer for that.

I did find it a bit funny that when I was at the post office with a badger design the lady did not want to see ID, she just smiled and said she remembered me. I have often been there before - but never painted - and have been asked for ID every time clown

I have intentionally done so on occasion, and sometimes when coming from a party or an event. I do alot during the month of October...good exposure people see what you can do up close, gets alot of inquiries and business cards into peoples hand

I not only go out painted I'm also dressed like a fairy. Kids and older people usually love it, teeny boppers laugh or think I am stupid but they'll get over themselves eventually. The worst reactions have only been kinda of an annoyed why are you dressed like that with a roll of the eyes so not to bad.

This past weekend I was at a trunk or treat, entertaining the line and some face painting from a cart, I I also did a kids Halloween party with games, face painting and watercolors. I had to take my husband's truck not my van and I did not have my toll booth pass and had to dig through my huge puffy skirt to look for change and the lady said she would have let me go if I didn't have it cause I looked cute. I had also stopped by the bank to get change but like perry said people expect it this weekend but I also do it on weekends not close to Halloween. I wore my costume from 9:30 am to about 7:30 pm

I don't think it bothers to me to go out dress up and painted sometimes I forget that I even look different.
