Restaurant Gig
I was approached yesterday by a small local restaurant to paint for a new family night they are starting up. This would be my first ongoing weekly gig. (Woo Hoo!) I have gleaned much information from the forum, but just want to make sure I'm not missing anything before I meet with them today. Can you think of anything else I need to keep in mind? I would really like to give the impression that I am a professional who has it all together and not just a fly by night painter.
Here's what I have so far:
Be open to barter and offering a small discount, but do not sell myself short
Create a contract that includes:
Re-evaluation in 4-6 weeks
The right to display a tip jar and business cards
Firm end time and plan to achieve it
Thanks for any help you can give!!!

Re: Restaurant Gig
Hope it goes well for you!! You may also want to have a colouring page or something for them to give to all the kids at their table... so even if the parents don't come with their kids to get painted (and take a card) there is still a paper that might make it onto the fridge with your information on it?
Re: Restaurant Gig
Thanks guys! And Perry, that's an awesome idea, this restaurant is right in my neighborhood, so that would be a great way to get my name out there, even if they don't get painted! Thanks so much for the advice!

Re: Restaurant Gig
Since most family nights are during dinner time, try to barter in a meal & make sure it can be to go. If it's for a sit down dinner, you'll end up having to entertain while you eat
Re: Restaurant Gig
well Im into my 4th time painting at Fazoli's here in Onalask Wi.. its the 2nd restraunt I do.. I do Rudys Drive in in the summer they are closed in the winter months.. So I went to Fazolis she was thrilled with the idea.. this past Tuesday she gave me 10 dollars more than we agreed on and said she really liked me being there.. I was thrilled with the fact that she was happy..
Re: Restaurant Gig
Congrats! I'm on the lookout for a new restaurant as mine is taking off the kids night for the winter(even though they had more kids than ever).
Re: Restaurant Gig
I love, love those coloring sheets. At Clown Camp I met someone who could draw an awesome coloring sheet that was fun and included your contact information. I would also make sure you see where you will set up. There's nothing worse than showing up and being stuck in a high traffic corner. Sometimes they assume you will travel like a balloon artist. Can you imagine lugging your fatmax from table to table?
Re: Restaurant Gig
LOL! I'm sure the serving staff would not appreciate running into a fatmax at every table
Re: Restaurant Gig
I own a restaurant so I can paint when I want to The kids are sooo happy and that makes mom/dad happy too.

Psalm - good luck on finding a restaurant, it's so much fun and great for everyone.
Also, I love the idea of a coloring page with contact info. I need to get on it.
