I have a halloween appointment that is asking for an Avatar face. So I dragged my husband into the chair for this one to practice. Admittedly, my husband's nose is about as far from an Avatar nose as you can get, but feedback is welcome in getting this just right before halloween.

thanks guys... I agree that the eyes aren't perfect but my husband is such a baby about me lining his eyes at all. He was freaking out about the darker blue I did on the bottom already. Rolling Eyes

I found the trick for the stripes was to sponge back over them lightly with a damp sponge with a little bit of the lighter blue on it because they were actually a little too dark and crisp, plus it took out some brush lines.

I think it looks great! Agreed that his nose is NOT the best avatar nose, totally wrong shape Wink. Maybe you could try to make the "pink" part of the nose less pointy? Does that make sense *G*

I think it's awesome Perry.
The only thing I can see that I did differently was I ran lines from the corner of the eyes down to the edge of the nostrils to try and flatten my man's nose out - he and your hubby have something in common.
I'll see if I can find a pic that shows it.
I think you did a much better job then me - your client will be happy!

How nice that your husband lets you paint him. Mine will not do that. He thinks the make up will bother his complexion... I have sensitive skin and paint mine all the time. Any way, it looks nice. I paint my face down from the eyes to the nose also. I actually sort of sponge it and shade it rather than just a paint stroke.

Hey Perry, I added the leather head piece for a different approach to an avatar, my painting I did was not the best so I've added a pic that you could maybe use as reference. Hope this helps.

Nice work Perry! I love that your striations are pretty darned close to a true depiction of the Na'vi. The subtley leads the viewer to believe that they are inherent in the skin and not just "stripes". I agree that some darker shading down the sides of the nose to "shape" it would set it off perfectly.

yeah, I'm not sure if he wants the "war painted" look or just their regular skin... if I need to improvise the war paint, I'm thinking it might even be a little easier because it won't need to look as "natural".

That's nice war paint by the way Very Happy
