Questions about face book for face painters

I just spent an hour making this face book page to go with my Website that is supposed to be up this week. Well, I put it under my business name and then it wouldn't let me connect unless I paid per click for ads to get people. The suggestion was 99 cents as my bid per click. So...I knew I was under the wrong place. A lot of people have face books right? I turned it into a personal profile I thought anyway, by adding our stuff but, it would was a total mess. It didn't let me keep my name or the stuff I had already done. The directions were awful. I am not really a stupid person but I sure feel like it right now...So, I deactivated it and decided to ask some other people on here how they managed their face books. Did you sign up under personal or community? I already know now not to sign up under business. If I sign up again as a business then it will let me connect to the Website but I can only invite friends and likes by them going directly to my page this way...what do you guys do?

I had a personal page, and it let me add a facebook business page from there, with my profile as the admin. It asks you to advertise if you want to, but isn't necessary.

I went through the help centre from my personal page to set the page up.

thanks...I will try again then. I think I did it the backwards way it seems.

I tried the advertising for a little while and it wasn't worth it, it was saying I was getting more clicks to my site than my site tracker was showing and I don't think most of them were serious looks... I've gotten more from my google adwords with pay per click.

On facebook, you can do a business page for free or a group. I had a page, then they changed the format and I didn't like it as much, so I went back to a group... then they changed the groups to match the look of the pages Oh well, too much work to get everyone to switch to the other at this point so I'm just leaving it as a group, I can still message everyone in the group with news updates.

Well I spent seriously about another two hours of my life today fixing my pages! LOL! Thank goodness for my brother, he actually knows what he is doing and reset everything for me from his home computer. I went in under a personal page and then added a business page. I still messed up and have two business pages somehow??? So maybe he can help me fix that too!

I did wonder about the click per ad because, I thought people often look without buying something like face painting. Sometimes they just want to see your photos. I do a lot of CL ads so, I thought this may help until my Website gets up and "unparked". Then people can actually see me and my family working without worry that I am an ax murderer

LOL thats hysterical. Sorry about your Facebook whoas sometimes FB and be a real pain in the buttocks.

I also started a business page from my personal. My biggest issue was you do not get facebook "notifications" on your page. You just have to check it constantly. Well boo! on that. I found a app that someone made themselves because of all the upset business people who wanted their notifications!

Anyhoo long story short. You will soon want this app it is called "Page Notifier" type it under your facebook search and it should come up. You will get emails once a day (for free) making you aware of any activity on your page.

I get notifications/updates from facebook. Its not like the stuff you get from your personal page, but it lets me know how many new fans, how many page visits and so on.

I do get a once a week email "update" from facebook as well. Not much info especially if you are hoping to get business from your page.
Not sure why facebook does not send notifications on pages??? There are huge threads on this topic online.
