Who has the Best Silver-- DFX/wolfe/Snaz?

I've tried Snaz silver & you might as well not even be using anything (IMO). I have DFX silver now & it's a little better- but still too translucent. I have to work A LOT of it into the sponge to be able to see it. I tried putting regular grey on as a base- then silver on top & you couldn't even see the reflection of the silver... they grey was over-powering. I've heard from a few people that Paradise Silver is decent- but it takes a lot of work- but it's fairly opaque. I pretty much just use my silver now to mix with pink or purple and make a base for princesses. It works well for that

I still love my wolfe silver. It rocks for me.

My old favorite was Fardel... but I can't find it in the states anymore and I don't know if they still even make it but that silver was AMAZING.

Just bought Tag for a body paint I did last week and it was awful. It looked great at first coverage but cracked and peeled when I went over it with blending or detail work. My model looked like her skin was bubbling. Not the best look, huh? I was super disappointed.

Kryolan metallics / interfrenze only get "crumbly" if it dries out. Keep it covered with a small piece of kitchen plastic wrap and the lid on when traveling, in flight and if not using it too often.

Has anyone tried Jest Paint's new silver?

I was wondering the same thing, her paints seem a lot shinier and brighter.

The answer is none of the above... and it's not even remotely close. JestPaint metallic gray is absolutely amazing. I have to say it. The coverage is VERY opaque and it's super silvery.

I have Krylon Silver - definitely not opaque!

This is a link to another thread related to a very new product in Australia brought out by a budget art supply company called Mont Marte. It has to be the sexiest silver I've seen. I have TAG (dull) and Kryolan (transparent glitter cake). I am currently building a practise kit using these colours. Probably no use now, but I thought you might like to see the picture to compare.

I am only posting the swatch of Jest Paint as I don't feel like the DFX swatch is a true likeness. I am not saying that Clash did anything wrong, but my DFX looks much more silvery on the skin.

What is the orgin of Jest Paint?

Image removed because Santiago of Jest Paint contacted me saying that I used his image and edited it without authorization. I did not edit the image unless he means the fact that I cropped the image because I felt and still feel that it was an inaccurate likeness of DFX Silver. I thought it showed their silver beautifully and did have their business name on it.

Do you have any pics of the cracking? I have been testing the TAG on jobs 2-3 at a time and I am in LOVE! I feel it is creamery and blends very well and haven't seen any cracking at all. If you are putting on several layers of paint, this could be your issue.

I had no problems with the TAG silver when I used it on small areas like the face, but it was when I used it for a body paint that problem arose. All of my other TAG colors have worked great for my body art pieces, but as I used the silver, it got less creamy and more clumpy as I loaded my large body brushes. Because I had to use more water to load a larger brush, the consistency of the paint totally changed. I've used the same technique with multiple colors and brands and it has served me well, but not with the TAG silver. I'm so displeased with the turnout of this paint that I won't be putting it on my website or facebook. The photographer did a sepia finish to help make it look like it was distressed on purpose. The pipes were all straight when they were painted and then as I painted longer the edges began to bubble and take the crispness away as I worked. Then as I added shading, the paint was actually flaking off into my brush. There was only one layer of paint. I didn't double up or go over it with another color accept to dry brush some shading, but the bubbling occurred before the dry brush shading.

I emailed Anna at Jest Paints and she replied that the Jest Paints are made in China but not in the same factory as TAG, DFX and Wolfe.

Jest are also FDA approved and she kindly offered to send the FDA documentation.

Are TAG, DFX and Wolfe FDA approved?

Metina - can you post a photo of your swatch of DFX? Much appreciated if you could.

Suzy, you always give the best comparisons and reviews. You need to find a sponsor and start getting paid or at least free products to do it. It seems like a new trend in the industry. Maybe you could hop on board since you're already good at it.

Maggie, it is better than those other brands... I used to mix my Mehron powder in with those silvers to make them pop more...

I must totally out of the loop - when did "Tulip" come into the picture?

I must go and research that one . . . I have never heard of Tulip. Where is it from? Where is it made? I have never seen it mentioned . . . very interesting.

I have just ordered the Jest Silver - I'll let you know how I go with it. I will compare it to the Kryolan Silver I have.
