Getting Started
I'm sure I am not the only one who wandered down this path after seeing this art and saying, "I could totally do that!"
I was at Disney World and had my face painted. It was so beautiful, but not anything that I couldn't do. Suddenly, I saw a possibility for colorful expression, that might earn a few bucks. At the very least, I would have some fun!
So I went on youtube and found some wonderful tutorials by Bec Anthony, bought some of the paints she mentioned using, practiced on my children, posted their pics on facebook, and BOOM! I had my first paying gig.
Now I'm looking for ideas, designs, information, and inspiration. I am so glad I found this forum!

Re: Getting Started
In June my daughter was "face painted" at a birthday party. It was a simple "stick figure" black spider - done with acrylics. She was OVER THE MOON! It took the women seriously like 15 minutes for this black cheek art spider. I thought: wow, I can make my daughter happy like that. And I found the Klutz book with the Wolfe paint. And now 3 months later, I am charging $100/1st hour and $75/subsequent hours and have numerous bookings each weekend!!!! It took a TON of work, really a TON over those 3 months, but here I am now. We have the best jobs that we stumbled into, eh?
Welcome.

Wow! So much business in such a short time! I would love for mine to take off like that! Do you have insurance? I never thought of it until I joined here and read about it. I'm trying to decide if I want to go for it yet.

Welcome to the group!
Busch Gardens, Tampa, here! That painter did such a terrific job (it saddens me now I know she probably wasn't paid what she's worth in talent) and I fell in love! I used to draw on myself all the time as a kid.
Now I draw on everyone else! It's an addiction... welcome!
