Re: Rookie painter
Thanks guys for the welcome. I am now preparing for a gig that I have at a fair tomorrow. Does it take anyone else over an hour to pack up?...LOL... I'm a little nervous but I'm just going to trust in God and see what happens. As long as I get to make kids smile, I'll be happy.

Hello and welcome!
An hour? I'm on hour 2.5 right now, so yes, I feel your pain.
I'm prepping the kits for myself and two of my painters right now. And now with Fall festivals coming up, I just made up some Halloweeny/Fall split cakes for the three of us too!
And then before I head out tomorrow I will drive myself crazy going through my checklist 10 times before I feel I haven't forgotten anything

Re: Rookie painter
Not only do I need a few hours to prepare (display boards, quick practice, etc.), but I have to do it the night before! I cannot sleep if I haven't done it. I think that is worse than you

Welcome! I've been gone from the forum a long time, myself. I usually spend about 10 minutes prepping before a gig, but that may not be a good thing. LOL. The nerves will eventually go away, once you've done it a while. I remember starting out, and being so nervous that I couldn't sleep, felt sick on the way over, and spent the entire commute praying for God to help my hand move the way I wanted it to. He always did.
Re: Rookie painter
Angie, thanks for that. It is nice to know that I am normal! Yes, I almost threw up the first few times. It is a little better, but the nerves really exhaust me. But it is so AMAZING that as soon as I pull in the venue, I feel so content and confident and it feels so RIGHT at that point. Thank God, because without that feeling I would never be able to do this!
