So I hade a party today and it rocked! Everything went great. Some kids came back multiple times like this fella who sat in my chair three times and asked for NOTHING from my board lol
Haha my rookie mistake lol Snakeb10
by the third time he had mussed up his eyes a bit but he was very excited I was there which made me feel good. I even got to paint a great grandpa Smile wish i could have gotten a pic of him

so what was my mistake? I didn't wear sunblock!! I have wicked fair skin and I burned BIG TIME! I'm usually so good about sunblock but I guess I was so excited I forgot. I was concerned about my arms until I just walked into the bathroom and saw my face and realized my face got burned to....and it was painted! I'm scared to take the paint off lol

Feel free to point and laugh now Smile Laughing

i think we have some around here somewhere....honey and i both burn easily so we usually have tons of sunblock and aloe lol

well i just took off the paint. most of my burn if my nose and the top of my forehead because i was looking down a lot at the kids and my hair covered part of my forehead. but alas there is definitely an outline of a rose and leaves in the middle of my forehead. hopefully no one else will notice lol

I don't burn easily but my son does and I have a great lotion that is cocoa butter and aloe, I know some can't stand the smell, but for those not sensitive it has saved me time and time again. It seems to nuetralize the burn some. Oh and congrats on the job, the snake is super cool, what do you use for the scale stencil?

you know that box that clementines come in? I use the orange plactic bit that they put on the box to hold the fruit in.

i've loved the smell of cocoa butter ever since boot camp. Smile i never thought of using it on a burn. Smile thanks

Thanks dragonfly Smile
The upside of this is that my husband thinks that it was his idea that I need my own pop up tent lol I've been wanting one for a year but if he thinks it's his idea the fact that it'll be stored in "his" shed will go over a lot better hahahaha

Eeek...Thats the reason why I ALWAYS ask for a shaded area to set up I get burned and I dont get back to my org skin color..
I do have an ez up, but I charge to bring it at birthday parties, if you add it consider to include the put up and take down effort in your rate..

I burned at the back of my neck , top of my head and my left arm. I was also in the shade. My henna protected my arm a bit, but now I will have a rose pattern on my arm in white when the color dies down! LOL My husband just touched my neck...still hot to touch. I have it in my contract that I must be in a protected area....I thought I was but mr. Sunshine had other ideas!

Kim that stinks! Usually I notice when I start to burn but I was so focused and excited and busy yesturday that i didn't notice that I had gotten burned...i also didn't notice that I hadn't eaten all day until the migraine set in Shocked

I learned some important things: a) always remember sunblock b) i need a tent c) i totally need a tall chair. my back is killing me and d) always have a little nosh before i leave the house even if i don't think i'm hungry lol

Thanks freedspirit Smile I did one more of those on a little little guy so i had the snake's tongue come down his index finger. he thought it was cool because he could wiggle his finger and make the snake's tongue move lol We didn't even get to have a real spring Sad it went from cold cold rainy to hot and sticky. I miss fall. that's my season Smile

I had the "shade" of a butterfly burned into my face last year. It was there for quite some time Very Happy

I won't work without a tent, but don't let it fool you... you can still burn under a tent.

haha..Í can still see the design I made on my hand as example from my gig last wednesday! I didn't get sunburned, but a little teint..Wink

it's a fun idea though for semi-permanent tattoo's ...lasts up to a week...put on paint..go into the sun and when you wash it off after a day..volia! there it is!

LOL you know it's funny... I saw this thread last week and kinda giggled...

"I would never do *that*," I thought....

Yeah no :p

So not only was my face already super irritated from painting and washing too much yesterday, I painted flowers and vines on my forehead and arm before the market today... couple hours in the sun and I'm BURNT... and have nice outlines that match Perry's.

DOH!!!

So sorry for everyone's burns....I will definitely be using sunscreen at any outdoor events now so thanks for the heads-up! Hope you are all feeling better asap, burns are no fun. Sad

I am fascinated by the tangerine-netting snake scales...do you sponge dark paint on right over them at the end of the design?

Ouch!!!

Okay, you've made my decision to look around for a one person, easy to set up, tent even more definite.

I wasn't going to bother with the hassle, but my skin goes from skull white to crispy in no time :S
