Weekday Work Empty Weekday Work

Post by wmeventservices Tue Sep 07, 2010 11:45 am

Anyone have any luck with getting a lot of weekday work. I know the preschool and daycare angle, but any other ideas to boost week day work?

Restaurants & daycares. Try homeschool co-ops & groups. They meet during the week. I'm teaching a basic mom's how-to Halloween Class at the local costume shop. It'll be very simple designs & info on safe paint. MOPS(mother-s of preschoolers) meets weekly.

Belly paintings - mum's are available during the week.
Also mum's playgroups - allthough you take the chance the kids are too young.
ATM I'm getting to gether with local photographers to offer face painting with their kids portraits, most of that work is during the week too.
Contact local libraries and find out when they bring school kids in for reading days.
Offer cheaper rates during the week?
Family movie nights at the cinemas.
Bowling alleys
hmmmmm can't think of any more right now.

Afternoon birthday parties once it gets into Fall. But with a large percentage of mom's working outside the home now, the weekday birthday party seems to be becoming a thing of the past.

Chik-fil-a, Friendlys, Independently owned popular restaurants, like steak houses, or mexican restaurants, skating rinks & even librarys are excellent places for week day work. Also, around tax time consider tax preparation centers, I know that sounds crazy but they are always looking at creative ways to draw in customers and they will greatly appreciate you keeping the little ones entertained that the parents bring in with them. Museums and pumpkin patches are also other possibilties!

I just did a birthday party this morning. It was a pre-schooler so worked out perfectly for everyone.

I would love to do more week work while my older daughter is at school.
I am considering having some sort of mid week special price hoping to convince some people to plan mid week birthdays.
Weekends I usually have booked up with events so being able to do birthdays mid-week would be perfect Smile

I have a contract with a Simon Properties who own many malls across the country, including Texas. If they have a mall near you, contact their marketing or events coordinator.
They run kids events during the week in my area, maybe in yours as well.

Having a contract with Simon malls is genious, with all the event they have throughout the year, that's the way to go. Also, the advertising that comes along with it is priceless.

It's no gold mine. It's lots of 2 hour gigs by their kid's area or customer service desk, but with a foot in the door they hire you for their bigger events as well.

I just started dealing with them a couple of months ago and I'm hoping to secure holiday gigs with them.

I just did a back to school event for one of their malls and gave out lots of business cards and brochures. Plus, I was able to network with the other vendors that attended: Local Amusement park, Tutoring center, DJ and Martial Arts center.

To get the contract, I offered them 3 price options: Single event standard rate, % off for 2 events in 12 months and a further % off for 3+ events in 12 months. They snapped up the 3+ event option because the pricing was the best but I won out in the end because I'm guaranteed at least 3 gigs.

Some things to consider:
Simon pays its bills once a month through the central office in IN, so if your invoice is submitted towards the end of a given month, you're probably waiting 30+ days to get paid.
They do not pay vendors via PayPal credit card processing, it's against their purchasing policy.
They require you to submit a W9 and Certificate of Insurance
