expanding business

I am pretty new to face painting but so far I have been really busy. I would like to get into facepainting at restaurants, hotels etc. to expand my business has anyone done this? If so what were the pros and cons? how did you get started? Also, has anyone done any major fairs I am considering doing the L.A. Pomona Fair.

For restaurants I sent out tons of postcards to all the corporate offices/owners(depending on if it was a chain or a family owned). I'm constantly dropping them off at new locations as I find them. I especially target ones that have free kid's nights. They usually won't pay your full rate, but you can make it up in tips. Wear a pin that says you except tips(mine says "TIPS MAKE ME SMILE"). JoAnn's has big pins you can make yourself.
Have your info out there on the web to find. A lot of restaurants will come looking for you(that's how I got my most recent restaurant). Find out what signage & advertising they'll allow. Can you put up a poster inside? Outside road signs? Make sure they'll let you hand out cards/fliers & if it's less than your normal rate allow tips. Have a contract. My contract is open ended & says we need to give each other 2 weeks notice to terminate the contract & I am allowed to politely pursue tips.

I do 2 hours weekly. I'm trying to get more restaurants or other nights w/ this chain. I'd love to get enough work that I didn't have to work every weekend & could get back some family time.
