Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
LOL.
I have seen face painters do it... as an add-on product. It looks like a lot paint in the hair, glitter, and some funky twist ties. I am guessing there are lots of ways to do it. I just need some direction because if I try it solo it is going to be really funky (in a blech kinda way)
From the result, it just looks so FUN to do!

Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
I had crazy hair after a 3 hour gig & a 2 hour gig today... both outside in 100 degree weather w/ 98% humidity:-)
I have a friend that makes clip on crazy colored hair. He buys hair from a beauty supplier, dies it & glues it to combs or clips.

Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
That sounds neat!
Do you think we can PAINT the hair with face paint? I don't see why not? And the glitter is in my daughters' hair anyways, LOL. I guess I need more help with the hairstyles... maybe a YouTube search will net me better results on this aspect.
Thanks all!

Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
Here is a link to a co. in PA that does it... and she has some of Lily Walter's crazy hair pics posted too. I think it would be a GREAT tie-in to face painting, because you know how little girls adore dressing up. My kids (still only 4 and 5) would go GAGA for it. I also think it looks super fun to create (and something some of your teenage daughters could do) and would net the face painter additional marketing - the kids would be walking billboards for your services! Oh, and don't get me started on "crazy hair" parties, LOL!

Do a search for "fair do" and see what you find - I think this is what you are talking about!

Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
I've done the hair clips before. You can buy hair in all sorts colors from beauty supply shops, particularly ones that cater to african american hair types (they have all sort of fabulous wigs and weave-making fun things!). I used the teeny rubber bands to secure sections of hair, then hot glued them to clips. No one bought them outright, and they took a long time to make. But I was thinking as add-ons... Super-Size your face painting!
Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
Yes! Fair Do does it. I understand it is airbrushed on... it looks wonderful! But I cannot find more than this... I really would love to learn it....
Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
The "Fair Do" really has much more of a "WOW" factor than those other pics. Reminds me of colorful crazy fairies. I LOVE it!
Just watched this video on Youtube. All that hair teasing takes me back to the 80's when my mom tried to give me wings. LOL!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trH5ep1HPgM

Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
I think SF sells colored hair spray. I have some I use on me for festivals & around holloween, but I've vever painted a clients hair. I've seen braided hair painted w/ metallic face paint. The artist just spunged right into the scalp & over the rows of braids.
Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
I think the hair pieces would be a better add on than the teasing and spraying. Less mess, less likely to spray furniture and such. I've considered using it as an add on as well. I saw some info a long time back and liked how it looked.
Re: resources for doing "crazy hair"?
They call it "funky hair" in the UK.
There are two styles - the spray on colour and the clip in coloured hair or braids, etc.
People buy the coloured hair and then make little bunches with small clips and hot glue to clip onto the hair (usually onto ponytails) OR make the bunches and attach with no tangle elastics.
Or you can attach colour yarns or embroidery threads to the covered elastics and attach to ponytails.
Something you HAVE to remember though is that in some jurisdictions in the US you CANNOT touch the hair without a license!!
