starblends question Empty starblends question

Post by aprilmoonflower Fri Jul 09, 2010 10:48 am

I am thinking about getting some. Can I use paint over them?

I want some because some days it's just too hot for paint. Are these a good for humidity?

Can they be used wet and/ dry? if you wet the cake can you let it dry and use it dry again or ?

I love my starblends... I heard that if you get them wet you can't use them dry again... ::shrug:: No reason to wet them though...

Yes, you can paint over them... I use them all of the time..

The wolfe black looks pretty bright compared to the starblend powder, but it's more that the camara reflected off of it & I didn't blend it well.

Here's my spidey. I didn't do white on the eyes. I love this kid, I painted him as a tiger 2 yrs ago & he remembered me! He's deaf & loves that I know ASL(sign language).

I cannot decide if I want star blends or not either. I don't have anywhere to put them if I get them. It's so hard to make these decisions!!!

I use my starblends dry w/ a smoothie. I reserve them for the kids I know won't do well w/ a lot of wet paint. They're great for the 3 & 4 yr olds & squirmy boys:-)

I bought a white because I was curious. LOVE them! Use a thin coat for a base and keep adding on for a stronger white. So then I bought the red for Spidey (he seems to be very popular!) I love them for these hot summer months. Not so sweaty & they just feel lighter to me. Today I saw my girfriend bought a palette of them (about 12 I think, Mehron) & they were so great. We used them for some shadowing on a body painting we were doing. I am so ready to go buy the palette now...need a few more jobs before I invest though. Getting started can sure break the bank! I use a smoothie for each color. You really can't go wrong!

Michael's does have a version of them... I bought a bunch, but every time I go back there are never any there at either of our Syracuse Michael's

They are kind of foam-ish and kind of microfiber-ish. They work wonderfully but are delicate and need TLC when washing. I haven't switched to disposable foam ones yet, but I may when there is no life left to the ones I have now. I think I have about 10 of them now and I also have smaller ones that i got at Micahel's, too... the tip is the size of a pea... the little ones allow me to use Starblends shading and such... plus I use them for adding shimmer powders or Lumiere in smaller areas.

I am ordering 12 starblends and it sounds like I need one for each color I am using...I ordered 2 and will look for something at Michaels. I really like how Starblends look so hopefully I can find them here somewhere one day...shipping is always so much Sad

The lollipop blenders that Metina has in her shop are perfect for getting in and around eyes and I'll load them on their edge to get fur and shape things. They are very sturdy and washable and much more affordable compared to smoothie blenders. I've even bought lots of extras and have been trying them as a brush alternative for paints on larger areas. Love those little guys.

are they as easy to wash off as Snazaroo? Can makeup wedge sponges be used since it’s a powder? seems to be the same material as the blendies.

Yes you can use the makeup wedges and toss them after each kid. You can also use the powder cosmetic pads...think that is what Suzy recommended.

I tried the wedges and the lollipops. No difference with coverage but you have better application control with the lollipops and they are meant to be washed and reused. Wedges are meant to be tossed.
