Prices
Hello everyone, i just have a quick question about Prices on your website. To do or not to do and reasons why. i got approach by an agency recently but he's asking me to take down my price points on my website. So i guess my question is, is it easier to have the customer e-mail or call and then give them a price quote or is it good to have it all out on-line form them to decided? thanks guys!!

Re: Prices
He probably wants you to take your prices down because he is going to charge more for you and only give you a portion and if the people see that you only charge x amount of dollars then they would just go through you instead of the agency. Is my best guess....

Re: Prices
Yes, that is most likely the plan... so the question is, how much is working for the agency worth to you?
I put my prices on my website, because I know what kind of shopper I am. If you don't show me your price WITHOUT my having to contact you, then I won't call.... I'll move on to the one that does show me their prices. I can't help but assume that if you don't show your prices, then I can't afford it. It also reduces the number of calls I get that are just calling around for prices... by the time they call me, they already know they are booking me. I get the occasional call that doesn't come through the website first, but it's rare.

Re: Prices
I agree with Perry; that's the kind of shopper I am too. My time is too precious to muck around with calling someone just to find out what they charge. So I cater to people who want instant gratification.

Re: Prices
I do not post my prices because I have a four page rate sheet with all sort of variations and packages... no point in putting it out there. I would rather have people inquire then I can quote to suit the job - if I want it or don't want it, etc.
And I'm not in a market with a lot of competition so I have no need to advertise how much I cost in comparison.

Re: Prices
I'm an internet shopper. I don't like talking on phones and I too will just leave a site without prices.
Re: Prices
I don't usually contact companies that don't advertise their prices. Like Perry, I assume I can't afford them.
Re: Prices
Same with me - I never contact companies for quotes as a consumer. I will always always always find someone else who has their prices listed.
As a business person, I love having my rates listed because it weeds out price-shoppers, and prepares people before they call to book me. Almost all of the people who call end up booking me since they already knew what to expect.
I agree that the agent probably doesn't want others to see your rates since he'll be charging more. I wouldn't remove the prices though unless it's a make-or-break decision and you really want to work with them. I work through a few agents and none of them have asked me to remove my rates.

Re: Prices
I finally put my prices on my site. It's made my life so much easier! People do not call me & try to haggle. It hasn't decreased my business, but increased it. I think it's easier for people to read & marinate over the price as to hear it & have to make an instant decision.
Re: Prices
I don't have my prices, only because I haven't finished that page/figured out what I want my prices to be. Silly, I know.
Point is, I don't get any business from my site. Most of my web visits come from you guys. (At this point, I'm okay with not a lot of business. But, I will want this to change at some point)
