Beauty Blender?
Has anyone thought of using these for their face painting work? I recently purchased one for my own personal makeup application and WOWZA - this thing really DOES blend everything perfectly. And it doesn't absorb the makeup, so I'm wasting less foundation.
I can imagine this being a fantastic addition to a kit if it didn't cost so much - I can go through 100+ sponges during a gig, and there's absolutely no way that I could afford to purchase that many Beauty Blenders. Even if I cut them in half (which might negate some of the nifty blending that they do), I still don't think I could afford enough to follow my whole "one sponge per client" rule.
But has anyone else tried them? Maybe someone who uses one sponge per color?

Re: Beauty Blender?
Basically the same thing as a "smoothie" blender isn't it, just bigger?

I'm not sure, Shannon. I've never tried Starblends...
Here's what a BeautyBlender looks like:
It's actually a cone, not flat. Like I said, LOVE it.
Is that what a smoothie blender looks like?

Did you try using it with face paint yet?

Shannon can speak better to this, but foundation has a different base than face paint, so face paint might behave differently with the blender than foundation does. But if it's fantastic, it may be worth a try. If not for festival use, you may want to keep it for "high end" jobs.

Well that's a new one... I've seen other things called that that are "beauty blenders" and they are just large versions of the smoothie blenders (which are just supersized eye-shadow applicators) with fabric rather than foam tips.
That pink cone I have not seen before but the texture looks like a regular cosmetic sponge which generally doesn't work that well with water based paint.
But... try it out and see if it will blend water based as well as it does oil based... it depends on the foam.
I looked it up...
Not sure I want my used sponge bucket swelling to twice it's size!!! And my current sponges can handle the dryer... and are a lot cheaper, and I can blend fine with them.

Use Beautyblender damp when applying wet/dry make up. When Beautyblender is wet it is normal for it to expand to nearly twice its original size. Wash after use and place in the Beautyblender insert pedestal to dry. Beautyblender should not come in contact with extreme heat of any kind.
