Suggested wireless credit card machines and companies?
Hi Everyone,
I'd like to be able to accept credit cards at fairs.
Can anyone suggest a wireless credit card machine and service provider? I'm trying to do research on them, but I'm honestly overwhelmed by the amount of companies out there and would love to hear your suggestions or if you have had positive or negative experiences.
Many thanks,
Cheryl

I would think that the fee per transaction wouldn't be worth it for the usual cost of our services. Good luck, I would think that those things would vary regionally as it would depend on the wireless networks in the area.

I had a friend last year that used artfire.com and used her cell phone with internet to charge there credit card. She already sells stuff there and pays the 20 dollars a month so there weren't any fees for her.

I think a unit goes for around $500 and I think the service fees run between 3% & 6% per transaction.
Considering the amount of times I have turned away non-cash business, I think it may be worth it...but I'm still trying to figure out the specifics. If the unit could pay for itself in a year, I may be willing to invest.
I'm just concerned with finding a reputable company and hoping someone has had experience that they will share.

A lesson learned from a company (not related to FP) we owned several years ago is to NOT sign a lengthy contract or avoid contracts if possible.... we went out of business and still had a contract with the credit card machine company, it was a major pain... they still try to get money out of account even after our contract has been over for 3 years and we have paid in full... just a scummy company of cheaters. (We have them blocked so they don't get any money... but it's a pain)
