Post by sweetdesigninc Fri Jun 15, 2012 7:00 pm

I just got the square to plug into my smart phone to take credit (I am assuming it does debit also?) card payments at our booth. So my question is does anyone use this? Have any issues?

I just saw a commercial for this on TV and was wondering the same thing!! Is it worth the 2.5% per charge? do you add on a processing fee? or just let it ride? I'm thinking this would be a GREAT add on to our business, but I just have to convince the boss (mom). :/

If it's that or nothing--definitely! Great for the cash-poor segment!

I use something similar here in Canada (same rate, but there's a $2.99/month fee as well). I'm definitely finding it worth the small fees. I get all my deposits immediately upon booking and we've even been able to catch a few extra face paintings at events where the ATM has run out of cash.

I wonder if we have anything like this down here in NZ. Not that I have a smartphone yet, but for the future. Kiwis are hopeless at carrying cash. We have eftpos EVERYWHERE so we're just not used to it anymore. Razz

I use Square...I love it...never had a problem getting money in my account. Works great for deposits over the phone...although the 2.7% is not that bad they do charge 15 cents to put in a manual transaction. It is customizable to your own biz. I change out pics seasonally...also if you have an iPad it can be set up like a cash register. I tried PayAnywhere once...took 3-4 days before I saw money...I usually have the deposit in my account by the time I get home. It is so easy my 11 y/o daughter does all the transactions....people think it is very cool.

It's the best thing I've ever done. I always end up getting extra clients at festivals because they don't need cash.
