what's the deal with one eye designs? Empty what's the deal with one eye designs?

I have several books that show just one eye painted (with no other design on the face). what's the deal with this? you don't actually just paint one eye on a paying client right? is it just me or does it make it look half done?

ALOT of people just want one eye done... dont know why... adults dont want a full mask or parents dont want to spend $ on a two eye mask.

At festivals I do alot more one eye designs than full masks

I do one eyed designs all the time. They look great and some are very modern and abstract so to me doing a full face might be a bit overkill. Sometimes is just the preference of the parent not to do a full face. And I find alot of the older girls and women prefer it. They want a little something.....not the whole sha bang lolol Something a little more chic looking ya know?

Very popular actually. Moms and daughters often get matching ones!

Just about everyone loves one eye designs, they're small, yet eye catching and very visually appealing and attractive. Plus, the asymytry of the design adds interest and focus to the overall design. If you have the same thing on both sides it's too symetrical (sounds weird, but it's true) and people's attention to the painting gets lost in the symetry, rather than the design and artistry itself. The finer details fade into the background and mediocrity sets into the design, because neither side is special, because there is another design just like it on the other side of the face. Does this make sense? I feel like I'm rambling.... sorry if I confused you even more!

Yeah, I do a lot of them too.... sometimes I will put something on the other side, but much smaller. It makes it look like you didn't forget the other eye, but you were going for the asymmetry.

I do 1 side designs a lot. Sometimes I'll do a small match(like Perry) on the opposite side.

Agreed it's a popular one for older clients.
Aprilmoonflower you could think of it as a decoration, like when you put a flower behind one ear...... if you put one behind each ear it would look funny.

I love asymmetry! One eye designs are a win - and I too put a little something on the other side - usually some teardrops and starbursts.

I do alot of one eye designs too. Alot of teens wear their hair parted to the side so their hair is covering the other side anyway so the one eye designs works out good. Wink

Also if you wish to make something detailed, it will take twice as long doing it on both sites.

I do them as well, but won't do a small design on the other side unless asked.

You can also do lips for a bit more balance top to bottom. Smile

Lovely 1st attempt! I have problems w/ the nose getting in the way & distorting the image or catching my brush wrong(SPLOTCH). I'm still trying to figure this out(can't wait for FABAIC!!!!).
