Body Painting
I had the oppurtunity to hang with a body painter and jump into the water. Here's my first attempt at doing a full body.
Re: Body Painting
That is great!! You must have been so excited. Was it hard figuring out what you wanted to put on your model.
My daughter in law has agreed to let me paint her, she is in college though, so who knows when i will get the chance, lol
You did a great job!!

Re: Body Painting
I did it as I painted to be honest I had an issue with models and then threw this together on the spot. Not the best approach but I didnt want the oppurtunity to pass me by.
Re: Body Painting
great!...I haven't taken the plunge (into bodypainting) yet...but you did a great job!
Re: Body Painting
Your work here is so rich, it reminds me of Cirque du Soleil!
Do it again you have GOT something there!

Re: Body Painting
I'd say somewhere around 6-7 hours. I was so fatigued by the time I got to the face I didn't know what to do and felt like just giving up. Everyone was so supportive and encouraging they got me through. I wasn't happy with the finished piece that night I just couldn't process in my mind what I had did. When the photographer showed up I started to get panicky cause I was so far from being ready - I had to do a lot of editing to get done enough to shoot, pretty wild.
Re: Body Painting
Wow! I was surprised how long it took just to do a 'bald head' or a pregnant belly. A whole body would be overwhelming.
Re: Body Painting
you know you just sorta get caught up in it until you realize you haven't eatten and your back is hurting. You need to train for something likethis and eat your wheaties. lol
Re: Body Painting
You do get caught up and loose all sense of time. The last time I had to have my husband call out the time every time he could remember, and I set my phone to alarm. Maybe carb load like the marathoners do it.
Re: Body Painting
Magic has a point. You have to be able to actually do a good job, stick with it and REACH (hold your arms at the appropriate angels). I am only 5 feet tall and have almost zero upper body strength. Sometimes even FACE PAINTING is too strenuous for me! I have been walking and joined a gym, just to get some strength into my arms! Magic is right ... and Wheaties may not be enough!
I wouldn't be able to do it. I admire those I have seen in forum who have been able to do so well.

Re: Body Painting
Nice work Magic!!! thanks for sharing - i like the abstract aspect and bold colors.
I love it too but everyone is right it requires a deeper level of concentration, planning, and commitment to complete. At La Fete we team painted complete bodies (some teams had 2, 3, and 4 models) and took 4 hours and more on some of the designs. The models have to be exceedingly disciplined, communicative as well - it's a marathon for them too. Knowing when to refuel, hydrate and break are key!!!
The results and photos are what make it so amazing - a full transformation of the concept or vision from head to toe is so cool though!!!

Re: Body Painting
I was designing as I painting -very stressful. I kept saying once I'm in I'm in cause you just can't go back- you have to make a commitment each step of the way.

Re: Body Painting
I always tell people it will take 5-7 hours depending on the detail... plus then you add on the photo shoot!!
That is really a very effective design!
