Re: Post your first picture
I've really enjoyed seeing all your first pictures...honestly, many are actually REALLY good!!!
My first ever was at a workshop in June...I painted a "beautiful nothings" eye design that looked more like some sort of impressionist painting, lol.
WHOA busy! Then I got a bit discouraged and didn't try again until a month later, when I visited the family in July... on my brother, Spiderman.....

BTW, that's pretty nice work for a first elaborate work. I know what you mean about the bad snakes and such...they were my specialty
Thanks!
I lived in Kaimuki, on Oahu for a few years after high school. If I could afford to live there I'd move back in a minute! Of course, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area now, not much more affordable, but at least the jobs pay more here!

Glad to help out, hahaha!!!! Seriously, it was a workshop by Philadelphia Tivoli (facepaintingtips.com)
Now...Philadelphia did my face...so check out the difference between her work and mine:
Re: Post your first picture
Yep. Is there a problem with posting that? Sorry if so..I was taking the workshop (more on marketing techniques than actual face painting), and she asked for a volunteer for the eye design.
Re: Post your first picture
Oh no... there's nothing wrong. Just... ah, well... surprized me that it was the work of an instructor I guess is how I'll put it.

From what I have seen YOU do (colourmyworld) I think you could totally do that now

I agree with Criss... You are more than capable of doing that!
So how was the marketing part of the class?

Re: Post your first picture
Thank you so much! I'm glad I didn't break any rules, lol. Well I believe she got into face painting from the marketing end to begin with...that was a quick design she did...honestly, I thought it was AMAZING when she did it then...but since being on this forum I've seen some jaw-droppers.
Shannon, the marketing part was pretty good. I still have the packet (like one of those note packets you use for a slideshow). SOme generic tips, as well as explanations on how to put your stuff on different sites, Adwords, etc.. I was a bit disappointed that I didn't learn much painting there...what it did was actually get me to start trying though...I've wanted to do for awhile, since one of my best friends back where I grew up does it. She is REALLY good (IMO anyway!)

Re: Post your first picture
I'm jumping in late but this is fun! I'm trying to remember, but I think this was one of my first attempts after I got my good paints.
To upload a pic... Click the Host an Image button, Browse to find your file, and upload, then another little screen pops up. Hit the copy button (I've only picked the middle one). Click the Host an Image button again to make the screen go away. Then Paste the info and the picture will appear when you preview or save the post.
But...woah...that's a big pic. Oh well.

Re: Post your first picture
JBax...I really like that, and now you can probably expand on the design idea, adding more technical aspects, like details, multiple colors, and metallics/shimmers. An elaborate version would look AMAZING in interferenz colors I bet! Especially using Shannon's precious bach blue.
Re: Post your first picture
I don't think there's any more Bach Blue left to be purchased on this continent! Good idea on the metallics though... I forget I have some when I'm painting. I think I'm going to re-organize my workspace to put those in front. Here's a more recent version, like last year...
Re: Post your first picture
This was my first. Apparently blending and decent linework were as yet unheard-of concepts...
Re: Post your first picture
Ok... you don't know bad until you see my first two faces... they truly suck:
the really funny part is that these are both painted on my youngest who won't let me paint her anymore.... I wonder why?

Hello, ColorMyWorld ... I, too, took Philadelphia's class ... in May ... in Philadelphia! Somehow I started receiving her "tips" ... and, when this was listed ... I signed up! ... I met some very interesting people ... very talented face painters ... but, like you, I was somewhat disappointed ... Don't know exactly what I expected ... but ... whatever it was ... well ... partly, I guess ... it wasn't well organized ... venue changed twice ... the community center room booked was too small to hold the attendees ... a quick "makeshift" room was add-on ... another "substitute" face painter was pulled from the audience [the "hostess" for that area] ... to demo to those put in the spill-over room ... Too much wasted "down" time ... Switching people back and forth from one room to the other ... Setting up more tables, more chairs, etc. ... Last minute "huddles" between the two ladies ... because I flew in from Chicago ... I had additional expenses ... flights, hotel, rental-car ... meals! ... Hmmmmmmmm ... a learning curve ... to be sure! ... What did you think?

And this is the second thing I painted once the Snazaroo set came it (I'm actually quite fond of this one)

Re: Post your first picture
I've been to Oahu (X 2), Maui, Kauai and the Big Island...
And I still have about 6 rolls of "film" in the drawer with my very nice 35mm camera... And I have a package of Polaroid film in the fridge for my Polaroid camera - which, when I started doing make-up was how you tracked continuity... Now that they have quit making that film I'm saving it to put on e-bay to pay for a retirement home.
