$5.25 to ship one paint?
I'm all set for summer; except I need a paradise black. How on earth can someone justify $5.25 to ship ONE paint? Give me a break! Metina, I sure wish you carried Paradise!!!

Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
Probably has a standard Priority shipping rate like most of us. Have you tried contacting them to see if they would mail it to you regular mail?
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
Actually, I forgot about the costume shop down the street. They carry paradise, but it's pricey; still cheaper than paying for shipping. I wouldn't stock up there, but for one or two it's not bad
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
Yes. Good for last minute stuff, but would NOT use them to stock up. Everything is $2-$3 more than online
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
oh, no.....that would be expensive......that is why I stock up on supplies when I order online....it justifies the shipping when you have a larger order, and I am not left trying to find anything locally..........especially since costume shops, WHEN they carry decent supplies, really put a markup on that stuff. But for times when you are in a pinch, it comes in handy to have a local shop. I have to drive over an hour each way to get to our nearest costume shop.
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
Actually, now that I have looked over everything and put my snaz paints into empty paradise ones... I need to get three paints... and some glitter, so I will probably just order it all at once. Glad I went over everything. Man oh man... I have way too many colors.
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
That's funny, I just emptied my Snaz and Kryolan into empty Paradise pots a couple weeks ago. I just love my laptop style cases, and Paradise has great containers, unlike the 18ml Snaz pots that break into dagger shards.
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
I just purchased a bunch of Snaz paints at one time and saved big on the shipping through Jerry's Art-A-Rama. They were also about 2-3 dollars cheaper than anywhere else on line. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that they have a store about 2 hours from me which gives me a great excuse for a road trip!

Yes, all I have left are my three sparkle colors. But, I'll be out of my light green, gray and black before too long, then I won't have any left. And from now on, at least with the colors I know I'll use, I'll probably just buy the really big containers anyway. They are compact and they don't break.
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
I don't like the stackable Wolfe containers, are the DFX ones like that? I liked the OLD Wolfe containers that were black with a clear lid.
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
I got the white and 6 metallics colors. White is fine; same as wolfe, but I just love the metallic colors. The red however is not red; more of a dark pink, but it blends great with the violet and the fuschia
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
Sounds like the old Wolfe Metallic Red...it was more pink looking than red. I have yet to try any DFX, and haven't used my Wolfe much since all of the Wolfe reaction reports that were going around a while back. I guess it may be time to give them a try again and try out the DFX. Do they have a metallic purple? I heard that Wolfe was discontinuing theirs, and I do so love that color.

Thats true for the 30 size, however the 45s and 90s are stackable, the same is true of the wolf paints.
As for shipping, $5 is standard shipping. Many places charge a bit more for their product and offer 'free' shipping, or will ship free if the order is over a certain amount.

Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
over here most of the time the standard shipping is about 6,50 euro...but luckily some stores give a discount when it fits through the mailbox...then you pay like 3,50...that would still be 4,38 dollar ...so the standard shipping here is 8,14 dollar...I don't order just one colour at a time...I wait 'till I can order some more...

When did the reactions happen?modernmagik wrote:Sounds like the old Wolfe Metallic Red...it was more pink looking than red. Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
What reactions? I use Wolfe mainly for line work, but if there's a reaction issue....
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
It was last year. There was some speculation about the possibilty of certain dye lots of wolfe black and white being contaminated because of a series of unrelated cases of allergic reaction. It was tracked back the line work of the the people having been done with wolfe black or wolfe white. I stopped using Wolfe back then, but it was more because there was no discernable reply to the issue coming from the company. Better safe than sorry, kwim?
Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
Yup. I haven't used my Wolfe on a job since then either. I just keep it at home for practice, new designs, and body painting.
The reactions looked like chemical burns. It was obvious that it was coming from the Wolfe white and black because it was clearly where the line work was done. It was not coming from new pots though, but rather ones people had already used down a bit. We started to wonder if some chemical in the formulation of the make-up was not binding with the other ingredients properly, and was just settling down and getting more concentrated as you got to the bottom of the container. That would explain why there were no reported reactions from the same cake of make-up until it was more than half gone (which seemed to be the case with those who experienced the reaction reports). The reactions were many and were pretty widespread too. Just scared me away from Wolfe. My kit is primarily Paradise anyway, so it didn't affect my way of doing things, but it really scared a lot of Wolfe users.
It all happened around the same time as the Oriental Trading face paints were pulled from the market due to chemical contamination causing burn-type reactions. They are all made in China as well. It is possible they are made in the same factory as the Wolfe was and there could have been a chemical contamination problem factory wide during an entire run.
Wolfe never really gave a good answer, but did offer to replace make-up that had a certain lot number, but only if you inquired about it.
Haven't heard of any problems since then though. Just still makes me hesitant to their make-up.

Re: $5.25 to ship one paint?
Back to the shipping costs... The cheapest rate for sending a "small packet" which is what ONE pot of paint would be is $6.80 CAD and that doesn't include the cost of the packaging... That's just what you have to pay for postage.
So, I don't think anyone is gouging... necessarily.
It is better to buy lots at a time to save on shipping for sure!
As to Wolfe White/Black... I am still working on my stock purchased in 2005!!! And have no problems. When I stock up, I really stock up!!
