Re: 1 minute designs
for a 1 minute design I'd do a sword and a wand. girls and boys love them and you can have different colors...
Sword:
you just blow up a 3-60 and then spiral a 2-60 for a handle on the bottom part.
Wand:
you just blow up a 2-60 and spiral it on itself and then make to loop twists at the top and then top it off with a heart, a princess print balloon, or a clear one with stuff in it(she uses sprinkles, I use colored sugar... same concept!)
you could do a ray gun if swords aren't your thing..it's one balloon and really fast.

OMG!! Lovin the Lightening McQueen bracelet. I am still newish to this so I can't reverse engineer designs to figure them out yet. ( I make stuff up as I go if I make a mistake so no one knows...but....LOL) Can you post instructions for the McQueen bracelet please?

Wow, so I know I've been on this forum for just over a month (wow time flies!) but I totally just noticed that there is a balloon sub-forum on here! I love doing balloons and actually feel they are my true storng point. here a just a couple designs I find I can do quickly.

BTW folks, Shonna from AdventureInFun.com has a new DVD called One Balloon Wonders in case anyone wants to learn from the beginning. I have it and love it. I learned some of the harder stuff first, then needed to backtrack get the basics so I got it and love it.

Great Punky!
How'd you do the frog. The angle is throwing me off and I can't figure that one out.

Re: 1 minute designs
Haha, well don't feel bad, that one throws a lot of people off, it's not the angle, trust me. It really is simple to make, but it looks more complicated than it is.
here's instructions, sorry, I don't have pics for the SBS
1. Inflate green 260 leaving about 3-4 inches of tail (**IMPORTANT: Make a roll-able knot, you will need to roll it out at the end of the sculpture**)
2. make a 2" bubble followed by 2 - 3/4" ear twists.
3. make a 1 1/2" bubble
4. make a 3 1/2" fold twist and push the first 2" buble through the loop so the ear twists sit in the loop of the fold twist.
5. make a series of bubbles consisting of a 2", 1", 1", 2" and twist the 2" bubles together. You should have something that resembles poodle legs and feet. the overall design will not look ANYTHING like the final product yet, don't worry.
6. make a 1" Bubble then make a 1/2" bubble at the END of the remaining bit of balloon and twist these together to form a large loop.
7. divide this loop in half to get two smaller loops.
8. grab the knot of the balloon and roll it out and then pull it and the initial 2" bubble through the 'poodle feet' and wrap it into the two loops at the end.
your end product should look something like my frog posted earlier in this thread.

Re: 1 minute designs
I've never written instructions for twisting before, but I'll try. I'm a visual learner & when I see written balloon instructions I get all knotted up:-)
LIGHTNING McCUINE:
Fill up a red 260 about 3/4s full
make a 1" bubble & pinch twist it(this is the side mirror)
Make a 4" bubble(this is the front of the car)
Make a 1" bubble & pinch twist it(this is the 2nd side mirror)
Make a 4" bubble & twist it into your 1st pinch twist(front of car)
Make another 4" bubble & twist it into your 2nd pinch twist(front of car)
Make 3 2" bubbles & twist into your 1st pinch twist(this is the body of the car)
Remove & tie off any excess balloon
Fill a white 260 maybe 2"s w/ air(you only need enough air to cover the front of the car(this is the windshield & his eyes)
Twist the knot of the white into one of the pinch twists of the red
Pull the white across the front of the car to look like a windshield & twist the uninflated part into the other pinch twist
Run the rest of the uninflated balloon under the design & twist back into the 1st pinch twist(this makes the bracelet part)
Use a black 260 & barely inflate. Make 2 small bubbles & twist & lock them together
Twist them into one of the pinch twists of the red balloon(they should look like 2 tiny tires)
Push the rest of the air to the other side of the black balloon till it reaches the other side of the car(line up w/ the other pinch twist on the red balloon)
Push the excess uninflated black balloon into the design so you can't see it(leaving out the part that's still inflated).
With the air still in the back balloon, make 2 small bubbles & twist them together
Twist them into the other red pinch twist(these are the other 2 tires)
Readjust so it looks pretty & add eyes to the windshield, a smile to the grill & headlights on the grill.
I hope this all made sense... it's the 1st time I've ever written in balloon

Re: 1 minute designs
Started twisting before I face painted (14 yers) and never heard of the glitter/sprinkles thing---BRILLIANT! Will put some extra zing in my line work this weekend and impress the event agent who hired me THANK YOU!!
Re: 1 minute designs
I used to order balloons through "oriental trading company" they sell by the gross pretty inexpensively. (And sell a ton of other things too - *warning* it can be an addictive site and make you contemplate expanding your simple bday parties into festivals with toys and crafts and games and such!)
All my designs previously were 'simple one minute ones", due to lack of talent
A dog, a horse, a giraffe - all pretty much the same with varying leg/neck lengths... likewise a sword/wand/snake - all very similar designs
Once again I'm in awe of the talent within this site - only this time with balloon artists

So cool! I am just beginning to get into balloon twisting. I really have my work cut out for me....
Re: 1 minute designs
wow I love the gator! you guys are so talented! I taught myself some balloon twisting quite a few years ago - I am now inspired to take it up again. (oops just realized this is from the summer, guess I'm late for this party)

Quick Designs
Metina wrote:Hiya,
I hate to ask, but am in a bind. I took a job thinking I am going to wow them with my 3+ balloons designs and he now tells me that he wants simple 1-2 ballons designs that can be done super fast. I was advised that the 1 balloon designs have little wow factor and only learned a few.
I have a list of about 10 that I have been working up and can put quick wings on most or put them in a basket for a little wow.
Any quick designs that you have that are super fast, but still get a lot of aahhs from with a quick pic would be most appreciated. I would really like to have a solid list of 20 going into this job.
Also, to help things speed up I was going to do some prep work ahead of time. Like making the flowers and add the stems on site, making up the princess heads ect. Just to help things go faster. I wouldn't always do this, but this job has the potential to have lots more during the summer if it goes well. Any tips on what helps a lot or what to avoid would be helpful as well.
Thanks!
-Metina
Be sure to get 6" geo blossom balloons for your flowers. These make AMAZING flowers that always get a bigger tip (because they're really impressive) and are ever so quick to make. If you want to pre-make, it's just a matter of taking along a pop-up hamper full of pre-inflated geos, then add your stems on site.
Swords are always a hit, and are super fast to make. They appeal to girls and boys both.
It's that time of year to pick up water grenade balloons at Walmart to make awesome turtle shells.

Even though I don't do balloons, I am amazed to see how cool they look! I want one! I bet kids and adults love it.
