Columbia Jam Review Long
Jam at Columbia Fuddruckers Feb 28 (4th Sunday)
I got there just after 6 and it was in full swing, the room was buzzing with excitement and painting. Amy Tam was there, and that’s always a treat as she is such an awesome painter. She had already painted a most beautiful Butterfly on one of the girls that came to be our model. Metina was there, and I didn’t recognize her….Every time I see her she looks younger and thinner. Metina had a bunch of paints for me…the new metallic’s from DFX. She had lots of stuff for people to see and try.
Then someone (a lady named Carol ?) did a wonderful nose job on the cutest girl. It was a dog. I love nose jobs.
The butterflies were so varied. What great ideas about colors, details and styles. Then Michelle and I showed 2 ways to cut butterfly brushes, she used clear packing tape and I used Got 2 b Glued hair gel. Both versions work, but after seeing Michelles way, I think I might just switch, I liked the fact that you can draw your design on the tape before cutting. Metina added that she uses micro Fiskars scissors (about $8.00)…I used them and they were fabulous. Michele played THE RIGHT game after this and gave away the two butterfly brushes that we had cut in our demo…Flo won one and I think, oh, I don’t know who won the other (Ok, speak up….Who won the other brush?). Jan (I think it was Jan) got brave and cut up a brush of her own. It was wonderful….a perfect butterfly brush on the first try. Of course we then painted with the brushes and experimented with different paints, and styles.
Having gotten this far, Michelle just happened to sit down in front of Mary Melia’s glitter supplies….Mary has every color I think, and Michelle tried out all of them I’m sure. She showed us some great free hand techniques.
Carol Turman showed up, and gave us a lesson in a double winged side view arm butterfly and a full face rainbow butterfly and how to load sponges with multi colors and blend. Carol is a wealth of great information. Of course she loves brushes, and sampled a bunch of different brushes from 1/8 to 1 inch. Which got us moving on to playing with flats and angle brushes and writing names and calligraphy. (I want this for our next jam….anyone else?)
Kathy Breeze and Mary Melia, took home with them some beauty school drop outs. Those two ladies are always so much fun and always up to no good. Kathy leads a jam in Frederick Md the 2nd Mon of each month.
This jam was so much fun, I can hardly wait to see what Michelle comes up with for next month. _(Metina gave us/me a great tip for next month...I'll run it by Michelle and see if she wants to do it...If so it will be another can't miss jam-this time thanks to Metinas suggestion)
There are pictures, but none that I took, so we have to wait for Michelle and others to post.
Thank you Metina for joining us, and Michelle thanks for such a great job organizing the jam, and to everyone there, thanks for coming, you made the jam 'perfect'.

Re: Columbia Jam Review Long
I think her name was Kathy with the nose job.
Younger and thinner? Gosh, you made my day. I have been hitting the gym really hard and OF COURSE my husband doesn't say anything. I put on a lot of weight while living in the UK. We ate and drank WAY to much. I was almost at 200 pounds. I am down about 20 and hope to just keep shaping up. I have officially adopted a "screw the scale" mentality. It is never kind, so I put it away!
The jam was awesome! Such a great turn out and friendly bunch. Michele showed us this glitter from Amerikan Body Art called Periwinkle, but looking on the site, I think it is actually MYSTIC and that is the shimmeryest(really a word?) I have EVER seen. We all got to get this. I am going to try and see if my glitter source has it, but until them, go buy some of this stuff from them. You will LOVE it! http://amerikanbodyart.com/Cosmetic-Glitter.html
To anyone that was there, I left my home made splits pallette. If you picked it up, let me know. Thanks!

Re: Columbia Jam Review Long
Metina, Michele has them I think. We saw them about a half hour after you left, to late to call you.
Thanks again for coming, it was great having you there.
And I love your scissors, I got a pair of curved ones at Wal Mart after the Jam.
