Has anyone had this happen to them? I got a text today from a man asking me to face paint for his child's birthday party. He told me he had an event planner, but that a location had not yet been secured. He made it a point to ask if I was able to accept credit cards and that I was able to "manually" charge the card. I quoted him a very high price (as the city is quite far from me), he immediately accepted then wanted to text me the credit card number (I told him I had to receive the service agreement back before I would accept any payment). He then asked if I "can do a little favor" for him regarding the payment... He claimed that the event planner does not have the "facility to receives credit card payment" That he wanted me to add their charges to mine, plus the 3% surcharge and then send the event planner their fees because they only accept cash. When I said no, I couldn't do that, he wanted to call me and asked that I accept "code 06 to allow " his call in. Very dubious indeed... This is a total scam, right?!?!?!

yes, its not only for face painting, but they do this on craiglist selling post etc. when you "get" this money and then send the rest to the "planner", the payment will sudden be fake and you will lose all money. never do any of this specially with out of country area codes

yeah, what event planner wouldn't be able to take credit card payments? paypal, square, etc make it possible for anyone to process transactions.

I've heard the ladies on the FABAIC forum on face book talk about this one quite a bit. Hasn't happened to me yet.
