I haven't posted in a very long time, but I was at an event this last weekend and got a great tip. The couple next to me use the spiral dog stakes, screw them into the ground and use the ratchet tie downs. You can get the dog stakes at the dollar store and a set of the ratchet tie downs for $10-15 (US). He said his EZ-Up doesn't move even during a heavy storm.

I love my spiral dog tie-outs.
I saw someone else using them and adopted the practice. My tent was hit twice two weekends ago by the Über tent at a festival. My tent did not budge. The Über tent has those tiny, cute little stakes that came with the tent. The next day they used those cute little sand weights. The wind took it away both times. I have those dog tie-outs, and 23 Litre BPA-free water containers. This way, I have both weights and potable water.

funny, I used two spiral stakes at my cousin's 4th of July party (I have no idea why I didn't bring my dad's weights he has for Jim KD I used). my cousin is a paint contractor and uses them sometimes to help stabilize the scaffolds his guys use on jobs. For when you are set up on concrete one of the most common things I see at art shows are the cement filled PVC pipes with end caps. people use at one of the larger size PVC widths and screw a heavy duty eye hook in the top cap to run a ratchet strap through.
