"In Bloom" theme - design ideas?? Empty "In Bloom" theme - design ideas??

Post by madeleinemitchell Thu May 07, 2015 7:47 am

Hello all,

I've never posted on here before but hope you can help. I'm fairly new to this game and still have a lot to learn, but business seems to be going well with minimal amount of advertising required.

I've been booked to face paint at a local event run by the council with an "In Bloom" theme. For "girls" designs the possibilities seem endless... flowers, butterflies, bees, etc, but the "boys" designs are leaving me drawing a blank. Any ideas anyone?

I wouldn't worry too much about fitting a theme with your designs unless it wad specifically requested by the folks running the event. My experience has been even if I include special designs for the event, the kids usually go for the classic designs like their favorite hero character, princess, unicorn, etc. If you do want to include something themed for the boys maybe try a bumble bee, thorny vines or a garden gnome.

I would suggest you contact the event coordinator (or whoever) and see if they're expecting and requesting *only* theme related paintings or is it cool if anything goes as long as you're also offering some theme related choices.  I'm sure it's all good.

This would help you from worrying about the details Smile

Hi both, thanks for the replies. The organiser did request an "In Bloom" theme, but after a chat we've agreed on including animals with that, so that gives me a bit more room for manoevre. The organisers are picking up the tab (rather than the public paying per face) so I'd better keep them sweet Smile

"in bloom" in the spring could be translated to "hatching out" or being born, with respect to animals, since many animals give birth or hatch in the spring.

this would give you leeway to do all kinds of boy themed critters - pets, farm animals, wild animals and zoo animals, reptiles and amphibians (snake, lizard, turtle, frog, etc), dinosaurs and pterodactyls, birds of prey (eagle, hawk, owl), sea life (whales, sharks, octopus, etc).

For theme events I usually have some suggestions, for 'theme designs' but generally i tell the host that to strict of a theme can leave guests disappointed when they can't choose what they want, and some younger children might not understand. I suggest to them having the regular designs, and also many 'themed' designs.

Thank you everyone, really helpful. I tend to put the themed designs on my display board and all my regular designs in a flip book on my table.
