Pelican Case Empty Pelican Case

Post by Flourishing Faces Sun Nov 02, 2014 11:28 pm

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone had converted a pelican gun case for their kit.
I came across a Pelican 1700 case for 1/2 the price and would love to know if anyone was successful with it before I invest the time and money.
Thank you.

Yes, Yes and YES!! Been using it for years and absolutely love it! Just got one a wee bit smaller (still on wheels) for my daughter. Well worth the investment--lifetime guarantee!

Where would I find pics of your case Anniel? I think it would be a good investment too. Just want to be sure. Thank you.

Thanks little monsters. I've seen Tanya's a few months ago. It's the pelican that I'm looking to see. If you have a link Anniel that would be great.

This is the one I have.

This is the one I got my daughter:

http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-1700-Long-Case-Black/dp/B00286M5OS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1415129372&sr=8-1&keywords=1700+pelican+case

I put in black wipe-able foam (black, from the exercise depatrment at Walmart & long strips of velcro striped width-wise. I used the softer loop on the case & the rough strip on the bottom of my paint jars.

I can stand mine upright, my daughter's won't balance like that. That being said--I do like the size of hers a little better as I can see it limiting what I pack--hehe, by a whole 20 centimeters!!

Both will fit width-wise in our cars.

Fully packed is as my avatar. I have since cut my brushes to one folder & changed my rinse water container to a larger "one stroke" size that I like better.

I am clueless as to get images on here--forgive me!

What are you putting your case on? I wanted to have a wheeled gun case and have legs attached to it.

Do you think I could attach them together some how?

I always ask for the client to provide a table...everything is contained, so no mess on their table. The ONLY place I have been nervous about placing it is a conference room at a law firm (you know those fancy mahogany tables that cost more than my car?) & I just have them cover it with a towel to prevent scratches.

Honestly, since plastic doesn't heal itself, I would be a bit wary of drilling into/attaching legs. I started using a case to simplify my life--and events always have tables & popups.

(I have found that the little things I ask to be provided with makes a huge difference in how I am perceived when I perform.)

After seeing the "craft & go" and Edie's both in action--and knowing I am not as meticulous about caring for my toys, I am thankful I went this route early on. (If you are responsible, by all means, the C&G is a little lighter & a beautiful set up, but you have to take more care...)

OK, just checked out your links--I would hold out for a Pelican. (My son's friend planted his large heavy teenage feet on my lst case similar to the pictured one & destroyed it thoroughly...if he'd been mine, he might not have lived through the experience...but it got me to upgrade!--blessings in disguise...)

Thanks for the input anniel! Smile
I am still researching options.
I love the idea of the craft n go, but it is a bit expensive for me at the moment.

I would check your local craigslist/offerup & see if you find anything out there on the cheap.
