Newbie!! Brushes Help!!

So I'm overwhelmed with trying to order brushes. I'm just starting out and at this point every Liow Cornell brush looks awesome. I want everything!! Ummm. Nope. I'm on a tight budget.

If I had it to start all over, this is what I would start with... and then I would get a few extra special brushes like a rake, angled flat, filbert, fat round for petals, etc.

have you or anyone tried the loew cornell flora brushes? looks like they are supposed to work like a combination flat and round (the tip).

I have just ordered them.
I will not be able to retrieve them until after I return to Detroit to visit my family.

I just used mine last week for neon body work and face painting today & loved it for both applications...why did I wait so long to try them?

how do you use them, can you give examples?

for instance, i'm imagining you could use them for -
one stroke flames, to bring them to a tip, covering eyelids and bringing it out to a cat's eye shape or swirl,
one stroke rainbows ending in a tip or curl,
swords, lightning bolts, camo,
butterfly wings, bird wings, peacock feathers,
snake, dinosaur, & dolphin head, body, and tail, mermaid tail,
horns, fangs, ears,
etc,
as well as the obvious flowers and leaves.

i noticed loew cornell now has flora round brushes with a fine tip, as well as the original flora flat brushes. thinking of getting the flora round in #2 and #6.

fesspenter, anyone else have an update on how they both work? can the round do a flatter stroke like the flat?

The Flora and the Flora round are apples and oranges. I use the Flora brush, I prefer the #6, for petals, leaves and at times dragons unicorns and dolphins, even hearts. It makes great ribbons, I just don't paint those. I think I an going to try using it for tribals, but overall I tend to not use more than a very, very few brushes.

The Flora round has a very long tapered tip. aIt is made for lettering and you'll find it great for those things that need a long fine tail. Nice brush just not one I use.

hmm, i was thinking of the flora round #2 tip for linework and details. is it stiff enough and can you control it for that?
