Discount for multi day job?
Hi,
I just had a customer that wants to hire me for a multi day job this fall. They are one of my best customers. I have never done a corporate event that lasted more than one day so I was curious about how you handle the pricing. I would like to give them some kind of price break as they provide the tent, table, etc. and all I have to do is show up and paint. It will be nice to have a full weekend booked and it is for 2 full days. How much, if anything do you offer as a discount for long, large events like this?

If they are one of your best customers, then they know your price and are willing to pay it. Personally I think you shouldn’t start offering discounts because they will expect one everytime. These corporations have the money. Maybe send a nice thank you card with some chocolates to the person that hires you, or some flowers but I think a discount might backfire. Just my opinion - I could be wrong. Hopefully someone with more experience dealing with corporate clients will chime in.

I have a dayrate which is my maximum charge for a day of up to 7 hours of painting. If over 7 hours my hourly rate is charged for the additional time.

Make it rain!
I wouldn't give them a discount. like eviedejesus said, they know you are professional, and know you have quality. They can usually afford it too. Doesn't matter they they are giving you to the tent table and chairs to use, because that's pretty standard. But yeah give them a little gift or something as a thank you, that's a great idea. Or add something else in to add more value to them hiring you. We started bringing our line queues, and a line manager to gigs over 4 hours long for no extra charge. We also bring atmosphere with out tend setup, all things they like to see. Ad value to what you offer, and don't just offer face paint, offer an experience!
